Nikon kept my loyalty for at least 1 more year!

So... I deliberated too long. And bit the bullet.
I went with the D200. My D70 has served me well, but I needed to push out more speed. Was so close to getting a Mark II, but the lenses were the ultimate factor. Also, I couldn't see enough justification for the $1000+ price difference from a D2X from a D200. Instead, I will save that for a f/2.8 70-200 VR.

Anyway, I am going postal if Nikon releases something next month, and the prices drop on the D200 lol.

As for the D70, I ended it's purpose by RAWing it up and juicing out some B&W images. Something I've never done with my D70.

Those shots look great. I'm sure you'll find the D200 to be an amazing camera. I'd be pretty suprised to see the D200 discontinued anytime soon or even a D200s in the next 6 months, but even if the D300 comes out tomorrow, I feel like I can shoot anything with my D200 and be happy with the image quality.

Hey thanks guys.

Yes, I dish out 2 different jpegs from the Nikon Capture Editor 4.
I separate the sky and objects and work off them separately. Layer the 2 together in PS7. Then I dodge and burn before the final process where I add the noise after they've been flattened. I do all this in 16bit. I convert to 8bit only before I save out the final jpeg.

Well I have some good news and some bad news for you

Good news, the D200 is the best camera for the money and they are dirt cheap now ($1300)

Bad news, Nikon will release something at the trade show in March. Personally I am hoping that it is a 17-70 f/2.8 with VRII for under $1500 but I think it will either be a D200s or D300 (based on the recent price drops of the D200 I think it will be a D300, but certainly not something full frame, Nikon has too much invested in DX glass). Then again, no one knows what Nikon will do...

So regardless, as a fellow D200 owner, regardless of what Nikon releases I feel no need for anything else, any upgrades, or anything along those lines... That being said I am sure that Nikon will now release the D300.

D200's are incredible... get yourself the MB200 though, it is awesome and will allow you to shoot about 800 images (batteries on the D200 suck!)

OK, I could go on all day...

whoa....
I just paid $1499 for mine
($1699 with $200 rebate)

Where is this $1300 business??? :O

I know something is coming soon... I just don't know what, or for how much. What is a MB200?

infokill, I used a Nikkor f/2.8 16mm :) (My favorite lens)

B&H has them for $1350

The MB200 is a vertical grip that holds an extra battery to give you more than 400 images.

doh. I lost a couple bills, but ah well. Supported a local mom & pop shop that's been around for years :) and I can take the camera to have it looked at if stuff happens to it.

Don't forget the D80 if you're on a budget... lots of D200 features and lots of megapixels.

I use my D70 weekly for commercial work and the D80 is about to make it my backup body...

Now I just need to save up for a Quantum and I am ready to floor it.
