BLACK DAHLIA trailer finally online

This isn't even necessarily the newest teaser/trailer, but it is still the official promo for the film. The movie is happily in post-production now, and we have a cut that runs about 95 minutes. Loads of stuff to tweak out, and yet to do the sweetening and mix with our Sound Mixer, John Neff, not to mention put in the newly scored musical elements from our composer, David J (Bauhaus). Anywho... check it out if you like.

*PLEASE Turn out the lights, turn up the volume, and wait for it to load... and remember it's rough and old... and it's online, so the quality is pretty crappy compared to the DVCPro HD output or even the miniDV or dvd copies out there.

There are some familiar faces for those of you who are into the fringes of art, cinema, and culture (like Julie Strain, Gidget Gein (of Marilyn Manson), Dame Darcy, Masuimi Max, and Trent Haaga to name very few)...

The film is about 80% DVX-100A (with the anamorphic adapter, as well as shot in 4:3 and 16x9 (squeeze), all conformed for 16x9 in the end and/or matted), and 20% on the Varicam (again 16x9), all of which is 24p. There is a small 35mm segment in the film too... anyhow, hope you likey likey.

All the best,

Bravo, for the completion of Black Dahlia. One thing, if I'm not being to critical your format with the teaser is great, I would just get to the major clips out there but not reveal too much, making the trailer a little bit shorter and to the point

I agree with the above comment. I think it was too long. I feel like I watched the entire movie. The killer stuff was really nice, but most of the other clips seemed to drag on too long. The open title was very nice. That will grab your attention no doubt. I would like to check ou the film.

Yeah, that really takes a sadistic turn. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product.

Good luck on this. I heard about this project sometime ago.

First, congrats on finishing the film.

As for the trailer it is way too long, IMHO. There are far too many shots of buildings and people where we have no idea what is happening. A trailer should still have a sense of story.

remembering BLACK DAHLIA and hard work...

Yeah, it's not really a trailer. It's the long AFM promo for the film. The short teaser trailer will go up in its stead pretty soon. It's like half the length and very different in content and even style. And yes, it's a bit more mood-oriented than story-oriented, which is what the trailer will be more like, plus a good deal shorter... thanks though, for sure... and i appreciate the comments and the support too.

Thanks again!

Cheerio!

P.S. If you haven't seen it... the intimate music video for the main title theme song for "Black Dahlia" is still up online also. It was written/composed by David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets), mixed/engineered by John Neff ("Mulholland Drive"), and performed/sung by Nora Keyes ( www.norakeyes.com )... check it out if ya haven't... i hope you likey likey...

Dude this looks like a serious film... now, what I saw the teaser or the trealer or however you want to call it, did not quite convey the seriousness of this film through the moo-oriented theme. Are you planning to re-edit it? or have you settled for this?

I would like to not only watch the trailer but the finished film as well. :)

yes

yes

thanks, Roman... yes, it is a "serious" film, I'd like to think. The promo is really not a trailer, but a promo thing. Most of what's in the posted link is over a year old, but it was tweaked out slightly. There will be a totally new series of real trailers/teasers (which are also WAY shorter, and more specific), but yeah, it's not totally conventional.

The movie isn't too conventional necessarily either, but hopefully it'll be enjoyable for folks.

All the best,

And yes, Actionjunky, the film was featured in Post Magazine back in May in the "star wars" issue. It may have been in Videography also, but i have not kept track. Anyhow, check out the new trailer/teaser above... i'll post it as it's own discussion later today.

All the best as always,

I watched the long one and didn't really care for it much. Don't think the music was really appropriate. I'm about to watch the shorter one now.

Promo or not, it should have a sense of story too. Killer website.
