A Screamin' deal for Full HD 1080p TV...

I still dont like the way LCD TV's of any sort look. they always look "edge enhanced" and plastic. I have yet to see a realistic pictre from one that isnt a Laptop monitor.

Samsung LNS4252 I think that's the right model number. Check one of those out. The image is pretty good for an LCD, made me want to change out my CRT finally.

Why do they do 1366X768????

Why not 1280X720..... Does the extra 100 pixels add to the awesomeness?

It's got a PC in port. I believe the 768 is for PC stuff but not sure. It's a good TV, though. I personally don't care about 1080p versus 1080i. I watch every HD channel and what I see is definitely good enough for me. Maybe when a 1080p LCD set is as good as CRT and as cheap.

Sharp has some nice HD lcd's that have a decent black level. A lot of HD lcd's don't have decent blacks, just murky swampy gray.

I just bought a Samsung 42" DLP projection, it only has 720p, but I dont care b/c I got it for $1200
Dude, you're suppossed to be savin' for that DVX. Now you're blowing money on TV's?

Elton, the Vizio's are great for the price, and yes you gotta love Costco.

I don't know about where you guys are but here in upstate New York we only have a handful of HD channels. And, most of them are sports.

And, as many of you know a SD picture on an HDTV looks horrible. In fact, an EDTV has a different pixel shape than the HDTV and yields a MUCH better Standard Def image than an HDTV. So, depending up where you are, that is something to consider...

I bought mine with the near future in mind. Here in CT (near NYC) we have Cablevision which provides about 20 or so HD stations.
Once you start seeing shows in HD, you're not gonna want to go back. SD on an HD set looks like garbage, agreed. But a movie like Revenge of the Sith in high definition? F-ing amazing.

Sidnenote: As much as I love shooting with my DVX, it's gonna be depressing from here on out. (Thinking about how standard definition footage looks on a HD screen) That guy who started that "What are you waiting for?" thread was onto something...

I discovered something kinda interesting along these lines last night on my Time Warner HDMI / DVR box. Under "output formats", are the choices 480i / 480p / 720p / 1080i. All four were selected as the converter came from TWC.

I turned the 480i and EDTV (480p) off and now the box displays 720p for all SD programming. If something is hitting the box in 1080i, then it automatically changes to that output format.

There is a marked improvement in the way the SD programming looks. Anyone know if these new boxes feature some kind of scan conversion or uprez feature. I was really surprised at the difference.

My Motorola Box does the same as well. If you put it on stretch or whatever, it displays all channels at whatever Resolution you have the box set to.
