My cousin said they did nearly the same thing for some shots in See No Evil... I thought he said there was even a bus scene... but so far I'm just looking at the DVD on my desk and wondering when I'm going to watch it.

I believe that setup is from the movie "Children of Men". Same issue of American Cinematographer, though...

In Children of Men, it was towards the end of the film, before the second plot point; they were headed into the prison colony which had access to the harbor.

I don't think that these are Kino's at all. Rather, they are very large softboxes with multiple sources, perhaps something like a bunch of Mole Decapods.

I agree. You would not put kino's in this large a soft box and get that much punch from the lights.

Kino's don't need a softbox as they are all ready a large (and hence) soft source.

They look like large "covered wagons". The magazine said it was a large lightbox.
