Buying a 2nd hand DVX - how many head hours is acceptable?

Hi there,

I'm planning to buy a 2nd hand DVX100e/a/b. How many head hours would count as "too many" head hours? In other words, what's the average lifetime of the record heads on a DVX?

That's kind of up in the air, I have seen healthy DVX's at 3000hrs, and sick ones at 100hrs.

The most important thing with buying used cameras is:
1) Hand inspection of all functions (zoom dial, focus ring, menus, recording quality, playback, audio inputs, no scratches on lens)
2) Confidence in the camera's history (was it used in a lot of desert/beach filming?)
3) Knowing the owner/company and trusting that person/entity
4) Getting some kind of money back guarantee for a few days at least
