How to get sweet video quality for Youtube/Flash:

Here are some short clips of mine so u can see what i'm on about, If you can already get nice clear flash video's then there's probably no point reading ahead...

...ok so these r the settings:

I use sorenson squeeze with the .flv setting of 1mbps, The codec to be used is "Sorenson Spark Pro" 1-Pass CBR, Frame size is 320 x 240

Thats pretty much it guys, I hope this helps

Ben,

You're a scholar and a gentleman! Thanks so much for the settings, I was just getting ready to go hunting for that very thing.

Do you actually see better results though with 1-pass rather than 2-pass?

:)

Happy to help!

I'm not %100 but i think 2-pass is better for videos with a lot of motion. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. I'm sure i read that somewhere though. I hope you guys benefit from these settings

2 passes means better result : Analysis THEN encoding

If you really want the best of Flash video, and that you often need to show top quality FLVs, encode with On2 encoder, instead of Spark.
This is an addon plugin for Sorenson Compression Suite available on sorenseonmedia.com (alas, for some bucks!).

It really makes the difference, and file size is significantly reduced, so this means that users "progressive downloading" your video posts (from YouTube, by ex.) has an easier life seeing them. (quick & fluid).

Every person that PM'd me using the On2 codec had trouble uploading to Youtube, not sure about other flash sites...Just thought i'd note that. I personally haven't tried the On2 codec for Youtube.

These sites have streaming providers (CDN - Content Delivery Networks, like Akaimai) perhaps some encoding requirements apply.
Could send an email to YouTube techsup about this; perhaps it is not related to ON2 in itself, but by parameters, I don't know, the Keyframe density, the fps, ...
