Mark and Ted's Excellent Adventure in Drama

Some inside info on TTN: I believe right at this moment they are having an ADR session with Taylor... hope it's going well.

Guys....

Things are really looking great. You have demonstrated that you have approached this project with great attention to detail, and managed to have a lot of fun and not be too uptight about it along the way.

One thing I am curious about.... Have you ever mentioned a dollar budget? Is that something you would be willing to do? At least a ballpark figure. Or how did you handle budgeting/acquiring of equipment, locations, personnel. It seems like you managed to pull off a production level of very high caliber, but managed to do it without spending too much money. i.e. : a lot of trades, favors, etc.

Thanks,
Jason

Yea, it was a very similar setup, just minus the reflector w/ the flags, etc that we used for fill.
That shot was done the first night with Taylor and Rob both there. I didn't have my camera that night. Maybe Kyle or Brandon caught the lighting setup.

Tim, awesome job jumping in and filling in for Kevin! Nicely done!

Blaine, thanks for the bts photos. BTW, I would love any and all bts photos from the cameras (Blaines, Kyles, Brandons) Just drop them on disc, no need to weed. I just want to have them if at all possible.

John (Hollywood), glad to see your face! Much better!!!

Brandon, right as always.... just finished the ADR session with Taylor. We also just grabbed some green-screen shots that we missed.

Cool!

Jason, I'll let Mark take this one. The expenses certainly began to mount as we got to the shoot week. We have wardrobe and make-up, craft services (no laughing Kevin!), grip rental, truck rental, expendables and other rentals... it does add up! And there are other expenses, I am sure!

I'll be happy to put together a budget recap when I can uncrumple the receipts I've been carrying around in my pockets. The grip rental was a big chunk because we had two shoots and wanted to give Kevin what he needed to light properly on each set. We had a pretty big crew and feeding the troops is always a pretty big pie slice on any production. In this case we were able to get fine actors working for credit but we did budget for our female lead. The actress we wanted lives in Northern California and was working in Portland so we paid to fly her down and also put her up at the local Best Western. Our wonderful D.P., Kevin, worked out a unique private arrangement with me involving some tradeout of services and consideration that we both found beneficial.

Of course, we never could have afforded this project if we had to pay the wonderful talented members of the crew and cast who devoted their time, energies and unflagging loyalty. Our lead, Rob Harrison, donated thousands and thousands of dollars worth of air time, airplane fuel, hangar space etc. simply because he has believed in this story since I first ran it by him some six years ago and he knew we couldn't shoot it without his help. He got us VIP passes to the Air Show in Thermal California along with lodging so we could do some pre-vis there and also catch his performance. He flew to a little-used airstrip in 29 Palms (way out in the desert) and flew passes for us to use as FX plates. He also smoothed things for us at the Airport where he's considered something of a celebrity in residence.

I think I mentioned previously that Hollywood Fire Dept. provided an ambulance, firetruck and commander's truck all for a tank of diesel fuel.

I can't forget my very good friends in Palos Verdes who put up a sizeable portion of the crew in luxury in a mansion overlooking Santa Monica bay. We truly lived like a million bucks during the whole week of the shoot. Here's some shots from our "hovel" where we lived during the shoot:

hey, havent had time to get my flash card unloaded with all those pictures. -- i'll probably zip up every single file and and host it online. is this alright?

Yeah, Kyle. That would be fine.

Brandon, your upload is back up to 27%. We had some sort of weird NT Kernal error message before the crash. Everything looks good and we aren't using the machine for anything but the upload now.

Cool Mark thanks! I am about to watch an episode of 24 Season 6... then gunna finish the SR end credits... then by that time hopefully the DL will be done :)

I want to be part of the TTN team. Damn, it's like working on a real movie with you guys. I hope everything is on schedule. You know if you guys didn't make the deadline you would have to leave the country, FOREVER. You guys are truely inspiring. I love what you are doing here. And that pool floating in the heavens. Is it overlooking the Pacific? I want to swim in the pool. I love pools. I won't pee in the pool, I promise. Please call me.

HAHAHA! That's great! Yes, that pool is overlooking the Pacific! What a view. I took a lot of video, both during the day and at night. The lights at night were just beautiful. And my bedroom was a completely glassed wall overlooking that view!

damn nice.

As for the movie... yeah, I gotta say this has been incredible. Such a far cry from my one man show. And I don't think anyone has to worry about this not being completed on time. If that is the case, (gulp!), I will be joining John (VersuS) in Greece for a long time!!! (btw, how are you John? Got space for me??? :) )

Thanks again, David. I hope that we can work together sometime!

Well, at least Ted and I know what a taco cart is now. Although I'm still not sure what the Joker Bug was, I've learned that if you shut up, look serious and let Kevin and Tim do their thing you can look like you know more than you do!

Thanks Rebecca! I may take you up on that sometime. If anything, I will let you know when my wife and I make a visit to Portland, OR. I have been wanting to take her there for some time.

And when I do... I shove a Colossal Burger from Burgerville USA in my mouth for my avatar!!!
