Music Vid - Goodbye Tomorrow

Here's my 2nd music vid...I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I'm not quite where I want to be.

some notes - we were supposed to have the actress for another full day, but she sold her dress (wtf?) and we didn't end up shooting a lot of narrative stuff...so I did what I could with what I had.

Ha. When the music finally kicked in, i thought the pattern behind the singer was a huge light-bank and would all light up. But that would cost a fortune. Nice vid!

Looked pretty good for a second video. Around 1:30 the drummer was way off on the music. Also, the sparkle effect was to much for the video with it being the only special effect.
Can't wait to see a third video.

thanks for the feedback guys!

deedive - no adapter was used

inspire84- haha, yeah that would have been crazy expensive, but really nice! the background is actually a leather material with buttons, kind of like a booth at those old 50's diners.

Nice vid, very good lighting and photography indeed!

I agree with Milvid, I think there is too much of the sparkle effect, the video looks very good without it, just don't abuse of it. I see you use slow motion a lot, is your video final render in 24p? How do you keep 24p with time remaps in FCP? I'm preparing a music video myself and want to use slow motion in 24p.

hmm, well all the slow mo stuff is 60i (except for a couple parts)
then I shoot with 1/120 shutter, and slow down to 60% in post. I use Vegas, so I'm not sure about anything in FCP.

about the sparkle effects...it's not the only effect I used..practically the whole video has effects on it, but most are subtle. And so far all my friends say that's their favorite part..so I guess you can't please everyone? :)

Not only was the video fantastic, the song Rocked!... I could have listened to that hook all night. Something about good minor 3rds for harmony,... gets me everytime.

A far better song than the one from your previous video. This is really good work. You should feel proud of what you have done.

Can you discuss camera settings, lights, and CC if possible?

At 3:20 when the girl approaches the camera which transition did you use there? Is that the sparkle effect? Sorry about all the questions.

for that effect i used a plugin from here - http://www.velvetmatter.com/index.html

it's called glint, i believe. also, i used the light rays.

camera settings - all flat
lighting - just used the available stage lighting at the club, i just took off all the gels.
and they had a few home depot lights sitting around.

CC- magic bullet heavy, modified form of bleach bypass

okay well you did a very pro job of levels and CC. I think Im gonna
try to get magic bullet. are you happy with it.

just for the record this is probably the best image quality I've ever seen
on a music video with just a striaght dvx

well done
