Illegal Panasonic imports

Ce Label is a proof that a product has been in conformance to a serie of requirements, a given day.
The goal is to ease intra EEC goods trading and circulation.

Panasonic, and all global manufacturers, try to argue to avoid cross-bordering of their products.

If CE label is a requirement to enter in EEC, what about all US products imported daily in the EEC? They are illegal?

Why do you want to buy in the US? To get 24p ? Well, both the hvx-200 and the hvx-200e are CE stapmed, just avoid the hvx-202en and the hvx-200mc. I recomend buying an international warranty for your camera, Panasonic will not fix your US purchase in EC, I have tried this with regrets, as I live in both US and EC.

I think that article and the compliance has more to do with lead based substances in electronic products. I think when panasonic introduced the upgrade of the DVX100 originally, it was to comply with the EU's requirements for NO lead based substances.

Basically I was looking to save a little money as I have plans to go to the US anyway. And I was going to get the optional Mack warranty. But now it looks like I might buy a slightly used camera in the UK instead.

So you mean US HVX could have lead, and European targeted HVX200 would be lead free? It is an improbable scheme.

If would seem strange if that was the case, but maybe each different product needs to be "approved" for sale in the european market, which would definately cost Panasonic some money. And maybe the american and asian HVX'es haven't been.

European prices on electronics, film and photo supplies are just higher than asia and us. Scandinavian prices are even higher. I have spend hours/days/weeks trying to get a fair price or just getting the damn product thourghout the years. I haven't found any greally good european stores online. Perhaps a "where to buy" locations would be something for the forum? what a shame stores like globalmediapro are so shady ...

Products needing an approval are those under ruled importation, national or EEC wide. It can't be applied to a sole brand/product.

Do you think pro AV equipments are under import restriction? I don't think so.

Liberal economy is global open market.

I don't believe it is an open market, and definitely not global. Differnt taxes apply to differt products,. As an example think the good old european firewire IN issue where we had to hack our miniDV cameras in order to record back to tape. Later followed a firewire In tax.
Companies have differnt price and release strategies, think of dvd regions.
Anyway; I just want my P2 cards ...

Free market does not mean free of tax.

Paying an importing tax or paying your national VAT are "the states revenues".

1) I can buy my P2 either in Europe, US or Japan. This is global liberal market.
2) I choose to buy in Europe where the demand matches the best offer. offer/demand market.
These are 2 principles of liberal market. Price is defined by the market.

This is not because a product is limited, or that you find tax expensive that we are not global or limited in any way.
You have the universal right to purchase or sell, if you can afford it.

I was considering buying an HVX from the US, but check this out:

Seems like that sure isn't a good idea! Everyone who's bough their HVX'es from the US into the european union should check out if their cameras are marked with the CE label.

BOOOOooooo!!!!!!!

This is why all my friends from the EU are desperately trying to come to The States.

Despite our imperfection, we are still by far the greatest place on Earth as we enjoy freedoms beyond compare including ECONOMIC!

No, try the best of both worlds, there is no magic place.

Had been living in the US several years, and my conclusion is:
I wish to share life between the US and France.

If the goal is to have more for the bucks, cross the Ocean, virtually! :-)
