Cannonball - NEW Trailer Shot with DVX

Hey, that looks pretty good. I really liked the tone of the piece. The lead actor was great casting. Seems like a naturally funny guy. Good luck!

That's pretty friggin good. I have to say. I like how it's so simple. It looks good. Shot with just a DVX, right, no adapters and such.

But It confused me, which I heard is a bad screenwriting sin, cause I was excited to see them go to Mexico, right? I was starting to picture that. Then they wind up in the woods, and that's fine, but I just wasn't ready for it and I wasn't into it. I guess if they had talked about doing THAT I could have been down with watching THAT.

Yeah, I just watched it again. It confused me because at first it was this cool, smart, slacker comedy that I wanted to watch. I liked the main guy- he was funny, and i wanted to see him go to Mexico (or at least attempt to) and talk about his dreams and just see him being funny going after something in Mexico and having all these problems happen.

But then it turned into having to go meet this creepy guy or whatever and then getting stuck in the forest. It just lost me so I lost interest.

I'm happy to say the intro and first half I thought was original and great and I would have paid money to watch! I guess you just got me in the mood for a fun comedy. But the second half just lost me and seemed forced.

Congrats on getting it finished which is most of the battle.

You're Right...

You're Right...

Thanks for the response.

It's more a problem with the way the trailer is put together, rather than the script.

The creepiness in the second half of the trailer is largely faked. That isn't the music I'll be using, pieces are taken out of context, etc. (I have my reasons for intentionally misleading.)

However, in the film, even at its most tense moments, the goal is a laugh. So, I agree that the trailer looks like two different movies and is flawed because of it. The actual film has a much better flow/consistency.

I'm putting together a :30 that should match the actual tone better.

well, although I really liked the tone of this piece I believe Sonic makes a good point. I was definitely more into the first part of the trailer. Why did you decide to, in your words, mislead the audience?

yeah, it's always a tough balance ending your trailer (which, in itself is a story) with an ending that doesn't give away the ending of your movie. I struggle with that as well.

I really liked some of the shots, especially the one out the window of the guy running in the yard and the truck going through the forrest - great reaction shots too.

A lot of the shots were too hot and blown out.

It was going sooo good, then they start getting chased by a killer in the forest? What? When do they get to Mexico?! Show that.
