what speed to set music when filming singer in slow-mo?

Hey guys,

If I want to shoot a music video where a singer sings in slow-motion, what speed do I have to set the music in order for the song to match him lip-syncing the song?

I use a Firestore with my HVX so I can't playback slow-mo directly into my camera, I have to use the HD Frame Converter in FCP. Any suggestions?

I usually shoot at 720/24p at 60frames to achieve slow motion.

(I did see a music video on here recently with the band sitting on a couch the whole time and it had parts in slow-mo that had the singers mouth match-up, but I can't find it. Did the director reveal any settings?)

Thanks again.

depends on your fps. if your shooting at 60 and projecting at 24... just divide the shooting speed by the playback speed... 60/24=2.5 so speed your music up about 2.5 times (300%) but remember the HVX ACTUAL frame rate isnt perfectly 60 so you need to find out what that is, if you have long takes and want stuff to stay in sync.

you might want to try just 200% some singers have trouble singing in time that fast, but give it a go.

Speed the song up for playback on set and shot in slowmotion. Example: for a 24fps finished product, playback the song at double speed on set and shot at double speed (48fps).

with the hvx the ratios are a little off. you can't just use 24 and 60. barry has made posts about this before.
