Great BW!!! Nice shots!

Can you tell us what setup did you use for shooting?

Thank you!

i used cinelike-d .. all shot at 720 24PN, 60 frames a second, at 1/500 sec shutter speed. handheld.

Looks great. I could see this running on 411. Also his landing on that 360flip was smooth. unlike a lot of sketchy crap out there.

Only thing that bugs me, is the audio when he is going to the flip trick. When he lands and skates of a little you hear another tail slapping the ground.

Sweet spot !
What process did you use to get to black and white ?
Looks like you might have lost a lttile latitude.

Looks like you might have lost a bit of latitude.

the color was done in final cut pro. the idea was to lose a lot of latitude in fact. crushing the blacks and raising the mid-tone levels. i did this with only one 3-way color correction filter, simply because its much faster and easier and it looks just as good as trying to limit your luma values and doing it in three or more stages.

i found that limiting each color correction filter to a specific luma range and doing color correction with at least 3 color filters applied gives me really nice results with color footage because you can control saturation and color for each luma range more precisely.

I definitely think you should stick with the black and white as the final version I just would like to see a color version also. The detail in the hand at the beginning is amazing. High Five!

I think that the color version is still effective, but it distracted me, where as the b+w brought me closer to the subject. It's also possible you spent more time cc'ing the b+w, so the colour version is not the best comparison. Great subject and pro doc style. This is just the kind of stuff i love to see from the hvx., and your choice of b+w'ing the film is top notch.

The B&W version is really nice. The contrast on the the hand are just beautiful.
Really enjoyed your framing !
