As a proud new owner of a second hand HP XW8000 workstation I am looking forward to establishing a video workstation. After briefly searching the DVXuser I have come across many users of the XW8000 and put these questions to them.
I intend to purchase Avid express pro and make several upgrades to the my XW8000. The workstation seems to be in fine working form with the current specifications as follows:
2 x xeon 2.8 gig processors
1.5 gig ram
72 gig scsi hard drive (currently boot drive - windows 2000)
I would like to add 2 x sata 250 gig HD and upgrade to XP pro.
Not having a great knowledge of the PC can anyone advise me from their experience / setups or of any reference material in order to create an Avid work horse.
