updated reel (dvx and hvx footy)

nice work.. I'd loose the names.. also there is an out of focus shot.. not good for a DP's reel..

Keep up the good work!

I think you might be speaking about the shot where the guy pops up from behind the shrubbery.... the shrubbery is in focus and the fellow out of focus.... I shot a few different angles of this, with both the plants and the dude in/out of focus.... I liked this one the best because those colors and light bouncing off those moist leaves looked way mo bettah than the jackass jumping out from behind

Very nice looking stuff. Did you shoot the HVX stuff at 1080 and the slow-mo at 720?

Also... becoming much easier now to spot which is HVX and which is the DVX as before I got the HVX I hadn't shot much DVX at all... Personally, aside from the 24p look and feeling the two aren't really in the same leage IMHO... Maybe just being a snob now... and then someone will say the same thing about the HVX when the Red comes out.

Really like the low angle guitar shot and the first running shot looked sweet.

nah, all the HVX stuff was 720

I def think the hvx shots are superior in terms of lattitutde and range and whatnot.... but the dvx stuff cuts with it better than I thought

next reel will be mostly 1080p HD... I'm bout to throw down for a firestore

thanks for the feedback

all the band/music stuff was dvx and a few quick shots from a russian roulette short I did

the rest is hvx

h.264 washes/flattens out the image, which makes the desaturated dvx footy look pretty darn close to the hvx stuff

did you blow up the dvx footage to match the aspect ratio of the hvx? If not, what was your process?

nah, just the opposite.

shrunk the hvx footy down to match the dvx footy

I shot most of the dvx stuff with the master ped lowered quite a bit and the chroma levels all the way down, I wanted a de-saturated/crushed black look in camera, so I wouldnt have to do much CCing(/grading/timing/whatever all the cool kids are calling it these days) in post

all the dvx stuff was shot a long arse time ago when I first got my mits on a dvx, I was a total newbie.... but some of the shots are still pretty cool and they were some really good bands, so I chose to keep em on my reel.... sadly I think they are gonna be phased out pretty quickly cuz I have a plethora of hvx, sdx900, and some canon 20D stop motion footy that I need to add to my reel
