I understand your frustration nycfilmmaker, but I think you're missing the point. Perhaps our mistake was to include the users in the development of the CinePorter, but this is the only way we can get enough input to make the product truly yours! It takes years and most companies don't announce anything until the product is almost ready, to ease frustration. Look at the HVX. It was delayed for some time. Would you have rather been kept in the dark until it was released? How could any of your suggestions ever make it into the design?

I have repeatedly said that if you want, I'll be glad to shut up and take all the information down until the CinePorter is ready. And if you think that I'm just here for fun and somehow need this, well, you're sorely mistaken! I'm here for you. I want to ease frustration as much as possible and make this product something you guys can count on. I don't need to be involved at all. I have three Corporations to run and a family to care for. I can just let all the departments do their thing and it'll be ready when it's ready. I'm also not going to reveal confidential information about suppliers, licenses or anything else, no matter how much you want me to be "upfront" about it! You know, after a year of hard work, I find your comments very offensive!

David

David, I hope you don't take nycfilmmaker's comments as representative of this entire community. Although many are in fact frustrated by the fact that the Cineporter hasn't be released, I suspect most people are simply excited by the concept, and are simply anxious to purchase. The group buy list in the other sticky should be evidence that there is a huge number of people here that think you and your product are for real.

There are very few vendors who involve their potential customers so much in the process of creating a new product. The ability to ask you questions and give input is unheard of. Thank you so much for your patience, and for putting up with the accusations and attacks from the "unbelievers."

Frustration level rises when potential purchasers can't get anything definite on a time frame for a release date, especially when you are seeing CG boxes and other prerelease marketing tidbits.

The same thing happened a year ago when the cams were in short supply.

If the feature set is SET, then many of us would appreciate some detailing of what the device will provide at a basic level.

What many of us would like to see is something definitive. At least I would.

Oh, wow. Was the p2 interface always going to occupy both slots? That is something I don't remember reading. Interesting. I wonder what kinds of things that allows vs. a single slot interface.

Thanks for the update, Spec.

Jason

That is strange that they would need 2 P2 slots, but maybe the camera will only feed so much data to a single card. I'm sure all the details will be revealed soon. They can't tease us forever.

I don't know. I don't think they need two p2 slots. I would ASSume that the reasoning behind the dual interface is added features/functionality.

Jason

Or it could be just to keep dirt from getting into the second P2 slot because you can't close the door with a cable attched to the "P2 cards".

Man! I've got to say that the Cineporter is looking pretty Sweet!!!

I'm starting to think that I'm going to have to figure out a way to afford it after all.

Things are looking great! I am very excited. Becoming more happy with being #57 on the list.

This new feature, from what I understand, allows one to dump the drives off without the use of a computer. Very very useful for fast duplicates for clients or for backups.

new_buttons.jpg

I am guessing the new added buttons (to make easier menu navigation) are to scroll up and down on the menu, while the display button is to enter the selection. Just my thoughts.

Now this addition is what is puzzling me. I can not figure out the advantage of a double card connection. Yes, it keeps out dust from what would be the second open port, but that is not reason enough to make a double port connection vs. just having a blank card instead. Plus the website says "NEW! Dual ruggedized interface card for seamless performance and additional features."

(btw additional is spelled wrong on the website :lipsrseal... not trying to be a spelling nazi or anything, just thought i would mention it for the next update.)

Anyway, I can't figure out what the advantage is of a dual connection. Does anyone know what that could offer?

Last of all, isn't there supposed to be some bad news? Things are looking good and I am not cruising for bad news, but I thought it was mentioned earlier.

Looking great David! I am very glad you have allowed us (DVXuser community) to be let into the development of this product. When I get mine, it will seem personal knowing that dvxuser has had a small fingerprint on the product.

One simple solution is for the company to explain these pictures..
And I will. I have to go along with the announcement schedule and then I can answer any questions.

Not certain what is served by all of us guessing.

Looks like everybody is just having fun in the meantime.

David

So, at least we can agree that what is occurring is prerelease marketing?

I'm not being contentious

Just wondering.

Yes, it's hype and marketing, trying to drum up some excitement and some eyeballs.

Commercials, if you will. Teasers. A movie trailer.

Hello David:

Is firmware something you can talk more about?

Being a mac user and not owing a pc, I always have to wonder about firmware upgrades. Will the cp3 require firmware upgrades?

And, if so, will I have to buy or borrow a pc to make that upgrade or will updates also be made available via downloading to a mac?
