30p vs. 24p vs. 24p Advanced

Is it possible to up rez 1080x30p by doubling the frame count to 60 frames thereby getting 1080 x 60p playback capability. Would not this yield a better result that 1080 x 60i?

The frame rate has nothing to do with its resolution.

If you convert 30p to 60p (any resolution size), you're just doubling every frame. It will look identical to 30p, because for intents and purposes, it still is. Instead of displaying one frame for 1/30 of a second, it simply displays the same frame twice in the same amount od time. You will not see any difference onscreen.

You will get a better uprez with 30p material than you will with 60i material in terms of vertical resolution, but "better" is completely subjective otherwise. While the resolution of the 30p converted to 1080/60p will be higher than 60i converted to 1080/60i, the motion characterstics will be different. Although it's lower-resolution, 60i uprezzed to 1080/60p will look more like native 1080/60p than the uprezzed 30p will.

If you're asking if DV 30p converted up to 1080/60p will be higher-resolution than native 1080/60i or native 1080/60i converted to 1080/60p, no. Not a chance.
