Envision & RebeccaD Present "Where Silence Falls"

LOL, thanks Tommy. Although something tells me I'd have a harder time getting that to fly past Rebecca ... she is PICKY PICKY PICKY when it comes to who's going to be working on her makeup & hair.

Oh, and just to cross reference because a lot of the same crew, etc. that are in WHERE SILENCE FALLS will be working on the feature TRINITY RIVER, I thought I'd post the link to that thread here:

No one ... she went to a Mac counter at Nordstrom & had her makeup done there ... then she continued to do her own touch ups throughout the night as needed. Can't recall where she had her hair done, but it was again all done off-set.

Since it was such a last minute entry for us, it wasn't much of a care/focus. WHERE SILENCE FALLS is a different matter altogether, and we'll need a good one for sure.

Oh man, yeah... you don't want to have her do her own makeup. I'm sure you won't have a problem finding someone. Try posting an ad on craigslist.

That'd be a pretty dang big plate to hold it all! May as well throw on the bib & walk out to the field, knife & fork in hand, lol.

Just finished another rehearsal with RebeccaD, and I've got to tell you folks you're going to be in for a treat ... she is absolutely going to ROCK THE HOUSE! We rehearsed for a couple + hours with WHERE SILENCE FALLS, as well as worked on a couple of sections for SEMELE.

Our next rehearsal will hopefully be the week between shooting SEMELE and WHERE SILENCE FALLS, as they fall on one weekend after the other. We'll get Reid in on that one as well ... really looking forward to it.

Thanks, Norm. I think everyone will be equally if not even more impressed by your acting chops in these two films. It'll be nice to see you in front of the camera! Oh, and as for the makeup, you are right, I am a wee bit picky.

I'm getting together with Dan Ayers this afternoon for a preproduction meeting for both WHERE SILENCE FALLS and for TRINITY RIVER. I'm excited to be able to work with him, as well as see both of these films come together! Norm and Rebecca have a good script for the DramaFest.

Thanks Ryan. :) The preproduction meeting has been moved to my place now, as I'd like to get more of the skinny on the camera/gear as well ... I think it'll help in my vision of the project(s), as I'll know what can/can't be done, look/feel, etc. Then we have the Gaffer (Steve Waters) joining us at 3pm for a tech scout for the short.

Rebecca, PLEASE, you're making me blush (*keep it coming*)!

Hey all! I hope that you all had a great holiday season!

Looking forward to getting caught up on your project!!!

-Ted

Thanks Ted. I am having a blast with both of these films! I feel like I am in capable hands as far as the crew is concerned too. As long as Mark doesn't tweek some BTS footage, that is!

WHERE SILENCE FALLS has been in a bit of hiatus while we've been focused on SEMELE. Looking forward to that shoot, though I'm NOT looking forward to getting up that early, lol.

Last Friday I had the DP, Gaffer, and Ryan over at my house for location/tech scout to see what lights to use, ideas of camera angles, etc. Ryan also had a session with Dan, the DP, going over the HVX, which is Ryan's. To hear how much money Dan had into his Steadicam gear, follow focus with microwave transmitter, etc. was just staggering. To have him bring all of that gear & his expertise to this short is humbling to say the least.

After this weekend's shoot with SEMELE, we'll be (Rebecca & I) totally focused on preparing for the following weekend's shoot for this film. We'll have a final rehearsal/blocking LATE Thursday night, which I'm looking forward to being able to work with Reid on.

Was on the phone with Stefan (scharky) tonight, who'll be putting together the schedule over the next few days ... also figured out some nice work-arounds, should our rain towers not come through as we're planning.

Working on menus for the meals and craft services with the caterer, Robin, which I think everyone will enjoy (they loved what she did for SPARROW).

Had a LONG and fun shoot with Ryan's SEMELE, and looking forward to seeing the film progress through post production now. Other than an ADR session on the 15th, we (Rebecca & I) can now soley focus on WHERE SILECE FALLS, which I'll begin today by going over to one of the neighbor's houses & scouting out some opening shots from their roof line.

AWESOME!! Just after posting the above, I got a call from our sound guy, Creed Spencer ... he has to bail because he rec'd confirmation of a paying gig that he had been waiting to hear from when accepting this short ... can't blaim him & hold no hard feelings ... just in a scramble for an experienced boom/sound operator now.

I mean, what fun is filmmaking if you can't roll with the stress that comes along with all these last minute things, right?! :) Also still trying to secure a MUA/Hair stylist. Got an e-mail in to Keelie Duncan, whom I met on Ryan's SEMELE yesterday ... she did a FABULOUS job & was really easy to work with.

Hey Norm,
I'm a writer/director/dp so I'm not an "experienced boom/sound op" but I've watched other people boom for me for years now. Plus, I've spent the last several months and $3000 on putting together a nice audio kit for my movies. So, feel free to keep searching for that experienced guy but failing at that I could help you better than some random PA.

EDIT: I didn't just throw $3k at a package, I spent months on the audio board reading and posting, reading audio books, etc. So I know the concepts and how to use the gear.

Hey Shawn, thanks for the offer! Michael Jones has a call out to a pro guy, but whether or not he's available has yet to be determined ... on an intersting note, my Craiglist Ad was flagged & removed for some unknown reason. I went ahead & reposted it, but should Michael's guy not be able to come through, I'll definitely want to take you up on it. Should know by Tuesday night (tomorrow) at the latest.

Regardless, please just double check with your wife & newest addition that it's cool for you to be gone all day Sat/Sun. :)

Just heard back from my umpteenth MUA contact that is NOT available this weekend. I LIVE for this kind of pressure! Whoo-Hoo!

It was beautifully shot, and had a lot of controversy around it as to whether the story was as good, etc. I'm sending you a PM, Tommy, giving you the address to where I'll park both a .wmv and .mov version on my server for you to watch.

I'd post the link here, but not sure if that'd cause them problems, as I heard there's some potential deal in the works, etc. But since I've saved all the downloads from the previous fests, I should be fine to post it privately, I'd imagine.

Wow, couldn't resist going to the youtube link. Even with the youtube compression it looks amazing (although I could only get 1/2 way through due to being at work :)

I'd love a link to a higher res version also if possible ...
