Christmas lights video style

I live on a hill with 9 large larch trees (about 90 feet tall) on the plot. So I rigged two Arri 650 fresnels with green and red gels to light two biggest ones. Went for a walk, I could spot the trees a mile away against the black sky.

Now I just hope for some frost on the trees, that would look awesome. And the third redhead with blue gel could colour the lower trees, now that is not powerful enough sans snow.

OK guys, it seems I have to get out with a digicam & tripod...

I just set up the lights an hour ago, so hold your (half)horses...

Here you are:

as seen from below across the street (ugly sodium discharge street lights).

Canon EOS-5D at 800 ISO 10 sec at f8.

Damn!

It kinda reminds me of that corona commercial where the palm tree gets lit up with the christmas lights. Know what I'm talking about? of course you do...

Two Arri 650 fresnels with gels on the sides, plain 800W Ianiro Readhead for the middle tree. House in front with some standard X-mas lights. Canon EOS-5D 400 ISO 13 sec at f8.

Mikko, can you see them? Eh?

Oh wow!

First I thoguht this was a joke as I'm waaaay over here in loley Espoo, Finland, miles away from most 'users.

But damn .. So are you!

Where are you at? I wanna see the lights!

- Mikko ... saw your post on DV.fi

In Laaksolahti, up on the ridge about half mile east of the sports complex. Best seen from Pitkäjärventie 79 (I live at Huvilamäki 6 up there if you want to drop by).

I think tonight is the last time I have them on, got to return the lights tomorrow. Next year I'll use 2000W Blondie and ask the neigbour's permission to light some of their larches which are even more prominent and closer to the main road.
