EX+DVX+LETUS35FE Getting ready in the Morn...

here is a question.

i always heard that the letus flip enhanced lost anywhere from 1.5 to 2 stops of light, but from the footage i see, unless you guys were using some pretty bright lights, i really dont see it as much of an issue.

most of those shots looked like they were lit with either window lighting, or a few bulbs?

please.... do go on with this thought...

yep, i`m also wondering about about the light loss...it just always seems to me that "your" Letus adapter losses less light than other people`s :)
Anyways, i like the look, done any CC apart from vignetting?
Another good example showing it takes them "forever" to get ready, lol...

Barry, i know it looses 1.5 stops of light as you and others have stated. I think my Ifocus HQ loses about a stop of light, but in comparison to this footage, it doesnt seem like the letus is suffering too much from that footage.

What shutter speed were you using? Cause this wil greatly effect how i think about its light loss, cause i would never shoot anything under 1/60th, preferably 1/120th, but regadless i always always use lighting.

Great little short here. I ALSO would like to know about the light loss. Hey, did I mention I'd like to know about the light loss?

OH! And what did you use in post to vignette?

Was that Gary Jules? Song title?

Papa, you never shoot anything under 1/60th? Are you shooting all interlace 60i, or are you shooting 24P. By default the "off" setting is 1/50th.

These footage looks really good. I'd hate to be nitpicky but I did notice a reflection at the bottom of frame in a couple of shots, here are some photos so you guys and see what I'm talking about:

Here is the photo enlarged and level adjusted to make the reflection a little more noticeable:

You also can see it on her legs in this shot:

I assume this is just a reflection on one of the lens or ground glass of the letus (maybe???) and you probably can't really do much about it (probably rarely happens anyway), but I'm very interested in this 35mm adapter and I wonder if any body else has had a lot of problems with reflections like this.

PaPa - here is a question.

If the lenses are fast, light loss isn't that big of a deal. I think it really depends on how picky you are. There were no lights, just the bathroom bulbs above the mirror and an open window. With a little camera experiance and focus pulling, you can jet some nice "docu/run and gun" stuff from the Letus. I'm very interested in the Brevis also as it is so compact. I want a HD200 and a Brevis relay system. That would be oh so nice.

I'm not to sure if mine is different than others, I've had my problems. I tend to just pick the good shots and really try to find the light when I'm shooting.

Yeah I used some magic bullet :) The magic bullet filters actually made the vignette

Matthew Bennett - You strapped it on?
You Know it...
I like your stuff with the HVX and M2...
Have you ever mixed your Andromeda and M2, I would love to see what that looks like. :)

Yeah... I don't touch the gain, But when there's minimal light, I shoot at 1/48 - 1/24

Thanks - When it comes to light loss... If I would have tried to film this with my 28mm/2.8 lens, it just wouldn't of happened. The 50mm/1.4 made it happen, also the 1/24th shutter speed. I am hoping to get a 24mm 1.4L, and a 85mm 1.2L to go along with the 50 when I upgrade HD.
The vignette on the Letus is determined on how far you zoom into your adapter. Usually you can barely see it. When I added color correction, the edges darkened just a tad, providing a real nice look in my opinion.

borgkingkong - I'm sorry, I'm not sure why you can't access my stuff.

jeremytuttle - VERY GOOD! I've been bummed about that for a while. On certain shots you can see that mirror lens flare thing. I think its something on the mirrors, maybe condensation or something, i dunno. I've been meaning to contact Quyen about this problem, but haven't gotten around to it. Quyen, is there a way for this to be fixed or cleaned?
