SF HVX/DVX Users meet on Wed, 7/19

Unfortunatly the info is all over the place in these forums, the SF info was in the General HVX news, then theres also more info in the Cafe Ala DVX, you best bet is to do a search for "san francisco" and they might pop up. Chakamonkey is the one who heads it all up here on the boards. maybe send him a PM, the meetings are held at BAVC in SF off in the Bayshore area. bavc.org is the website, but you wont find info on the meetings there, exclusivly here.

Jarred had guided the posts to the Cafe Ala DVX area, but it seems like not everyone knows about that. I'd agree with Cynic821 to do a search.

On the other hand, I send out an e-mail if I have your address, and announce the upcoming meetings. Timing of the meetings depends on a couple of factors, like when BAVC has an available space (thanks to Dillon) and if there's something to discuss. We would plan on having demos of the Cineporter or Brevis35 when it becomes possible. If there's more than one person wanting a specific topic covered, we would try to arrange to cover that. If you want to present on a topic, I'm all for that.

Dillon likes to see the meetings happen once a month for continuity.

The most obvious things to cover that are coming up are the new release of DV Rack (DVC Rack) and the delivery of Barry's book via Panasonic. The latter will undoubtedly be able to drive several meetings.

Thanks Cynic821 & Jordan for the re-demo of Sam Edward's M35 as well as the follow focus from hysonfilms.com.

So like, can I get a cheatsheet to tells who's who? I can't keep the handles and the names straight. As for me...

Hi, I'm Moses, and I'm a videoholic.

Let's do the equipment co-op thing!

Let's do the equipment co-op thing!

Hey people,

I'd definitely like to work out a deal with someone out there, for an HVX200/M2 co-op/share. In other words... I'll help shoot your indy with my camera, if you'll help on mine. Anyway, my indy project is moving forward and we're going to shoot it in March 2007. (It's a feature, a wacky romantic comedy based on the book "The Ethical Slut"). Anyone interested? I can provide insurance and a little cash to sweeten the deal.

Cheers,

Moses

PS, hey, Sam Edwards, are you out there?

Yeah, a local film production equipment co-op would be a great idea. Here's how I think it could work: 1) You lend your equipment (basic setup is HVX200, cards, hard drive, M2) for a number of days, and you get back credits for those days. So if you need to do a three camera shoot for ten days, you'd need to lend your equipment for 20 days. - Moses

I just moved to the Bay area. Is there any other filmmaker kind of meetings? I'm always ready to drink and meet!

We're long overdue to get the band together again. I doubt it will happen until after the New Year though. I'll check with Dillon to see if there's a room available at BAVC.

Sam Edwards is in Canada, i was the last person to see him alive!!! joking, but was the lst person to see him from DVX before he went to Canada.

awesome, I'll be there this time, i swear!

as far as topics, if anyone could give a color correction demo, I'd be interested in that. Creative grading is something i'm lacking.

We're all set for 6pm on Thursday the 25th (today for those up late.)

The location is at BAVC. See www.bavc.org/meet/contact for address and directions. We're in the Mac classroom. We got bumped from the main screening room by paying customers.

We'll still have a screen and projector.

See you there.

I have a family issue so I can't make it. Hopefully I can meet all you guys soon though. I've been living here 4 months now and I'm dying of boredom. If anyone needs any extra hands for anything don't hesitate to PM me. :)

well im still sitting on my ass waiting for my ride, 15 minutes before it starts (I live 2 hours away)

Even after my ride said he'd be late, i'd figure i'd still come up and make it an hour into it, but he's still not here and im not sure when he will be.

oh well, i guess just tell me how great it was and all the awesome stuff you did/learned without me...

Thanks to Christopher, Nic, and Theo who showed their stuff. Each was inspiring in a different and impressive way. There was shameless DVXUser product placement, but I guess that was not the least of the shameless footage. We also saw a gizmo under NDA which we can't talk about, but expect to see on the market soon enough.

Dillion announced that he is exporing getting a bootcamp up in SF.

Also, we continued a trend of pushing off attendees to French speaking countries. Apparently, if you want to see the world join the us at the SF HVX User Meeting.

Laters.
