DVD Player for HD files

If I save a 720p file as a WMV9 file ( or some other file type) is there a standard (not HD) DVD player that will play it as a HD file. I was looking at these DVD players that up rez regular DVD files to 720p.

Am I missing something?

Are you asking if a SD DVD player can play a HD movie file in HD?

I don't believe so.

But you can encode it as SD DVD, and use an HDMI DVD player that has uprezzing capabilities.

It won't be HD because the uprezzing is interpolation, but the quality is pretty good

Even progressive scan component DVD players, SD DVDs encoded from HVX200 HD footage look pretty good.

Are there any HDDVD or BluRay burners out yet? You could probably spend a small fortune and get one of those! :D

This looks promissing. I have not used this but I was asked by a client to offer a solution while Blue-Ray and HD DVD battle it out.

Hope this helps, all of us as well.

There are DVD players that play Windows media HD files from a data disk. I was thinking about getting one also. That JVC looks nice. THere are a dozen or so models out there. Anyone know of a good one under $200 dollars?
