"They have a strawberry costume I want to rent for a short about a Fruit of the Loom outcast."
They have a pretty sweet grape costume too, if I remember correctly. We were thinking of having our villain walk around in that but somehow I think that may have detracted from his effectivness as a villain!!
it's really easy to rent from them. they don't ask for insurance or anything like that, and have pretty good rates in terms of keeping teh costumes longer than planned.
Did you happen to use Terragen 2 for the landscape in the opening shot of the trailer? I'm planning to try the combination of it and the HVX later this quarter.
I've used Terragen for a few things before, but not on The Ore. That opening shot used C4D's basic "plateau" shapes combined with a very high res displacement map to get all the bumps & ridges.
C4D has a large number of preset "noise" patterns - two or three of them are terrific for creating rocky displacement (stupl is the one I used, I think) with some heavy tweaking and customization. The nice thing about the noise patterns is that you can scale them up or down by huge factors and not lose quality, unlike using a TIF.
Combine that with a bump map and rock texture and the results can be pretty cool. Here's the first test I did using that method.
