Well, Google isn't yielding any useful results, but you could always print them like the Chupacabra Terror way.

Plus, if you only have 23 dollars, how do you expect to buy fake money?

How realistic do you need?

Are you shooting close ups? Or just wider angle stuff. SD or HD?
Generally ou can do just fine by making prop money. Just scan a $20 into photoshop and print off a bunch of copies. - You can fit about 6 bills per sheet of letter paper.

If you are shooting "bundles" of money, then you onlyt need the top couple of bills per stack to look real, the stuff in the middle doesn't really matter - just as long as it has green edges.

You won't find realistic looking prop money anywhere -- at least, I couldn't, something about counterfeiting and federal offenses and stuff like that. It's against the law to make fake cash that is the same size as real cash, you have to make it twice as large or half the size (or something like that) and even then you're not supposed to color it the same.

((And ever wonder about all those piles of 20 and 100 dollar bills you see in the movies? So does the U.S. Secret Service. The Los Angeles Times reports today that a bunch of fake bills used in staged explosion on a movie set somehow fluttered into circulation, prompting a visit by the real Feds to the props company that makes them. The law says that fake bills have to be either three quarter size or one and a half times the size of a real ones and now the supply of authentic looking-bills for movies and TV shows is said to be drying up. "Just one more reason to take production to Canada," grumbles the CEO of the props company. There's also concern movie makers will turn to less reputable sources of counterfeits that will be tougher for authorities to monitor."))

That's hysterical (and a bummer) Zach!

For Last Birthday Card I made a wad of cash out of three real $100 bills wrapped around 100 $1 bills. I was very protective of that prop. :)

There's a large prop house in the San Fernando Valley (California) somewhere that makes the best fake money, for the money. It's one of the largest prop houses in Hollywood. I forgot the name. I don't think it's Modern Props. It's another huge prop house that I would know if I heard the name again. They made all the money for all the big movies like Ocean's Eleven, etc. I didn't find out how much it cost, but I think it's expensive. I tried searching prop houses in the L.A. area in Google, but, as you did, I came up with virtually nothing.

thanx guys. that pdf of the fake money printed out good too. i'll just have to adjust the size in photoshop. so, i wonder if a printer is going to give me a hard time if i get it printed the same size as real money, but just have the face on both sides?

What about just printing on one side of the paper? Since you're likely going to be stacking them, you really only need the front side visible.

It seems to me that you could probably make the front about as realistic as you want, and have the back side read "not legal tender -- for use as a stage prop only" or something similar, and you would likely be okay.

I suppose it is probably still technically illegal, but if there is no chance of any rational person thinking it is real, I doubt anyone would press the issue.

yea, i jus found out it is illegal like somebody said earlier. i figured i could get over since i know someone who works at a print shop but they dont wanna touch it :)

but actually after printing off on my own and resizing it and cutting it out it looks damn good. especially if it's just kinda in the background of a shot.
