Take care, folks. Ted, be safe. I think we don't know how to add. You've got a 100 posts to go to crack that 2k.

Have fun,
Jason
Yeah, that's how tired I was! I was thinking that we only need about 8 post to crack the 2k!

Man, sleep felt SO GOOD last night!!!

I haven't forgotten your question, Jason...

So, what was the best part of the process for you so far, Ted?

Jason

I would have to say that the best part of the process has been working with the TTN crew.

I don't mean that as a cliche'.

Seriously, I am usually such a "one man job."

So, for me, the BEST PART was on Monday and Tuesday... after so much time working so closely with Mark on the story (while incorporating ideas from Brandon) and then the process with Kevin (as the DP) and Blaine (as the Line Producer) to get to the point where we were on the set and I called the first "ACTION" was really incredible.

Looking in that monitor and seeing the framed shot knowing that many, many man hours went into getting that!

Just wonderful!

Is that a pic of Mr. Concannon, our resident DVXUser actor, shaking hands with President Bush? Nice detail
HAHA! Good catch, Larry!

Brandon, I really don't believe that the idea was taken from Smuggler's Ranson but good job on getting ANOTHER PLUG in for your films!!!

I think the budget doubled after Ted got his first taste of In 'n Out
HAHAHAHA!!!! That's about right! Yummy, yummy!

If it wasn't for the incredible food from Maniac Mikes (who is our caterer) I would definitely be an advocate of acquiring IN-N-OUT as our new caterer for TTN!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

DVX-Ben, the budget will be posted at some time. I will have to defer this duty to Mark, as he is taking on the production expenses while I cover my airfare back and forth to CA.

But l do know that we are very fortunate to have some incredible generosity passed our way to be able to tackle this project. Our Pilot, Rob Harrison, commands a nice 5 digit figure for 15 minutes of stunt flying. And we have had him in the air and on the set for many hours!

Yep. Very fortunate!

DVX-Ben,

We've been trying to keep a tight rein on the budget, but obviously have to spend some money. Renting the grip/lighting gear was about $370 I think. Kevin helped us there and clued us in on how to get the "director's reel" discount. I found a 15' U-haul for $19 a day (3 days) and 70 cents per mile. We've been very fortunate to have no location or prop expenses so far except for feeding the crew. First night we had sandwiches and a table of stuff and the second night Maniac Mike catered a beautiful spaghetti dinner at the airport cafe. Food and expendables has been about $270 total so far. Ted and I have been racking out at a Best Western Motel but I lined up a forensic job at an intersection in Chino only about 15 miles from the set and put Ted on payroll as flagman to watch for traffic as we filmed running a red light. That let me recoup lodging and shooting expenses since we used theHVX and shot it during a shooting day. For our major shoot the first week in January I plan to schedule another forensic shoot that will let me cover a bunch of expenses as well. We're paying our lead female actress a small amount and the rest of the cast is working for credit. Kevin and I have worked out a trade-out of services for his role as D.P. that will hopefully give him equivalent value for the wonderful work he's doing on TTN.

We've got some other expenses for makeup services, wardrobe and some transportation but not a huge amount. The front surface mirror cost something like $70 from a scientific services company and I had to have it FedExed for the shoot.

Ted obviously had expense in flying out two times now from New Hampshire. His first trip saw us make an expedition into the desert to shoot some critical scenes of the aircraft in flight. He's got one more extended trip for our big shoot in January. I'll try to get a good total on the budget after we do that shoot. We'll have craft services expenses and some lodging along with the grip rental.

In summary, we're working on a shoestring but trying to keep production values high. Obviously, we'd never be able to afford the Zlin-50 and a stunt pilot but Rob Harrison is a business partner and one of my best friends. He and I have been kicking this story idea around for about four years and when Ted and I became friends I ran it by him. Ted came up with the first draft of a script within 24 hours and the rest is now history.

As everyone will see, hopefully in a few weeks. We've crafted this story to take advantage of an event that will really amp up our production values. If all goes well we should have some incredible BTS footage to post the second week in January.
Oh! I see Mark was right on top of this!

Thanks Mark!

Hey Ted... those two reverse shots look FANTASTIC!! :) And yeah, I guess I do clean up nice... haha!
Thanks Tom! I'm glad that you like them. Obviously, you have first hand knowledge on how much time it took to get those shots!

All worth it!

Haha. I remember the first time I came out to LA to visit a friend. She lived a block away from an In 'n Out. I'm an East Coast guy. Needless to say in the course of 4 days I ate pretty unhealthy. What is it? Double Animal Style? My stomach's growling now.
Double Double Animal!

oh, yeah... I can't wait to get back in Jan!!!

Seriously though, It's really cool to see you guys flyin' all over the country to make this film...I'm looking forward to seeing the result of all this collaboration. I think I'm one of the 3 DVXusers that aren't involved in this project.

Well, have fun guys

Thanks Larry...

There MUST be a job we can get you on. Let's see.... Maybe you can provide all the smilies for the credits! That would be fun! Kinda like Monty Python's Holy Grail!

Well, I think that I have sufficiently filled up page 195 of this thread! HAHA.

Great to get caught back up.

Now, I have to wait for all of you WEST COAST boys to wake up and start chatting!

Thanks again, guy.

This has been great!

-Ted

Nebraska boy and Bullis are still sleeping. I'm up and will be going out to Starbucks in a few. Glad you're home safe Ted. At Maniac Mike's yesterday the airport crowd said to send their greetings.

We will get some stills of the location stuff I discussed with you yesterday. This afternoon we'll be at the 'port and will meet Blaine there.

When you have time can you get the measurements of our pilots? I expect to be able to talk to the Civil Air Patrol today about the possibility of borrowing some flight suits.

Fog is over the bay right now but it wil lift as the sun gets higher. We'll get some more pics after the boys are up.

Hey Mark!

Miss you man. I expect to see you sitting on the other side of my laptop!

I have some interesting news to tell you. It's going to blow your socks off!

PM coming.

-Ted

Hey Mark! Can't wait to see some of those pics! Have a great time with the guys today!

A typical message from Brandon...

Way to crank out the films, bro. You know that I am only kidding because I am so jealous!!!
