one of these grabs was shot with a canon gl2 and one with a dvx 100a.
Can you tell which one? Can you tell which one was lit with work lights and which one was light with lowel's ?

The 2nd one looks like "home depot" lights and not white balanced correctly... The first one has the DVX "look"

I see interlacing in the second shot, which would suggest the gl2 unless it's the DVX in 60i...

I would have to agree with Brandon, unless this is a trick question matching the worst a DVX can do versus the best from a GL2...

So, what's the answer?

The second is actually the DVX (he told me) which is weird, as it looks so much worse (IMO) and isn't really balanced correctly.

Lighting in the first pic is worklights.
Second one is much more diffused. (unless you shot the worklights through diffusion you tricky bastard.)
That's my guess.

not really sure the point of all this. sometimes you see terrible stuff shot on the dvx which could be trumped by cameras much lesser than the gl2. BTW not white balancing is not cool....just my opinion.

Yeah,

If you don't really work hard to light your shots correctly or to white balance or do everything you need to do, it's going to look terrible on any camera (well, i mean, any camera not over $10,000).

There have been several times where the DVX threads in this... subforum... have looked really consumer camera instead of quality DVX.

Methinks the first one looks better(obviously), and that it was lit with lowels, while the second one is lit with worklights.

well he probably made the second image look worse with the dvx so he could tell all of us that really the gl2 is a good camera and can be better than dvx

light placement is more important than light brand. A good DP can use worklights to get better results than a freshman with some ARRIs. But on both screenshots, the fleshtone looks unnatural. And please don't compare the GL to the DVX. That's so insulting.

It's hard to really tell the quality when the samples are so small. But yes, the first does look better than the second.

However, comparing the best the DVX can do versus the best the GL2 can do would be no contest.
