Interlace problems

I have completed my project and rendered out to qiucktime and I still have interlacing in the final product.

Now, I shot the footage in 24PA but it was captured in regular DV NTSC, not with the pulldown removed, and my timeline was set at 24, not 23.98.

Am I going to have to recapture my source footage to get rid of the interlacing?

Let me guess . . . Final Cut Pro?

You should have done the pulldown removal at capture (and edited 23.98), but I believe you can still remove the pulldown with Cinema Tools without recapturing.

I'm not 100% sure of that, though.

What is your final destination for this footage? You don't necessarily need to ever remove all interlacing, depending on your destination.

The you don't need to worry about deinterlacing. The TV is an interlaced device and the projector is designed to deal with interlaced footage. Most of the time, 24p sits in an interlaced wrapper for playback. If you can, make sure your DVD burning program removes the interlacing and burns a pure 24p DVD, but even if it's not, it'll still play fine.

The only time you need to worry about eliminating all interlacing is for computer-only playback.
