Check out the trailer for my new action film shot entirely with my DIY adapter

I still don't understand why talented filmmakers chose inane violence as the subject matter. Guns, guns, blood, guns and more blood. What purpose does it serve?
I guess The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Unforgiven, Platoon and The French Connection were some of the most 'inane' films that ever won an Oscar. I could name hundreds more. Violence is part of life. You know it's hard out here for a pimp, daddy.

I liked it. Reminded me of Bourne and Miami Vice (at least the trailer for Miami Vice anyway), and you've definentally made the style your own. Making a style like that work and not copying frame for frame from Hollywood is hard, so nice work there.

The fights look well staged. Everything had a cool look and feel to it, but I do notice your production company title kinda makes a joke at the type of movie it is. I'd suggest having a company graphic instead with heavy grain instead to draw less attention to it.

Thanks for the supportive comments! To answer the DIY questions- I filmed half of it on what I call a "FRANKENSTEIN ADAPTER" - which is based on the Agus35 design. Its mounted on a piece of plywood. I filmed a quarter on 16mm, and the other quarter on the Redrock M2.

dude, love what you're doing keep it up. i got no problem with grain- tho some shots don't have it as much as others. looks like classic Woo to me ;) how long's the film?

Not too beat the dead horse, here... but why does someone who calls himself "PimpDaddy" have ANY say in what others should shoot? Do you even know what a Pimp is?? and then to criticize violence in the media.

I've heard the same garbage from you on numerous posts now. You're not going to "make a difference", if that's your intention. These films are not my cup of tea either, but I know that others enjoy the action/violence flicks... so be it, it's just a movie, and that's their choice.

Man, your just a walking cliche, PimpDaddy.

Its a trailer man! Its supposed to exploit the exploitable, advertise what people want to see-- and people love violence and good looking women. I'm sorry-- but thats how this business works. But to satiate your concerns, there's a love story in the film.
hahahahah....are you a producer or a filmaker..."oh yea...and theres a love story too" HAHA im sorry kinda rediculous. I tottaly agree with what was said....a good story is what makes a good film. Its the most essential thing everything else is just about making that story come through on the medium (film...or video w/e) as best as it can. are you even selling this film anyways...it doesnt seem like this is something you have to worry about yet....if you wanna be a producer so be it, filmakers care about one thing....telling the story...let the producer tell you to throw in more naked chicks or w/e to boost sales.

those movies were not about violence those movies were great stories that happend to have violence in them. If violence is apart of telling your story so be it, but violence isnt a story....and many MANY people especailly younger filmmakers jump to guns and action sequences before they ever write a good story....I dont think lethal weapon or speed won any oscars, but correct me if im wrong.

Ok

Ok

I'm really sorry- but I just looked at your stuff and its pretty much all crap. You can tell me how to tell stories when you win your next oscar.

Hey, sorry about that harsh reply back there-- I wasn't in the right mind (got back from partying)-- its just that me and my crew worked VERY VERY hard on this project and unless something is constructive criticism from artist to artist- I sort of take it personally. Here is my more mature, adult reply to your post:
Some directors are purely artists- expressing something awesome using the medium of film. Others combine producing and directing- they make something that sells. I'm definitely more of the later- I would say Michael Bay, who I really try to take after, is like that. Someone like Darren Aronofsky is on the other end of that spectrum.

p.s your stuff isn't half bad-- I think most stuff appears shitty when you're both 1.drunk and 2.in a shitty mood
