Anyone use Blu-Ray burner for HVX200??

Hello,

I am a new owner of the HVX200. I upgraded from a DVX100 this month. I think both cameras are spectacular, and am very happy with the new HVX200. I just started editing with HVX200 on AVID Xpress for a PC computer. I have shot footage (720 24p and 1080i 24p) on a p-2 card and transferred the raw material to a Western Digital firewire drive. I was wondering if anyone has used or purchased a Blu-Ray disc burner for their computer/editing systems. Have you tried archiving raw footage on to a Blu-Ray disc? Where you happy with the results? Can you output a feature on a Blue-Ray burner etc. Does the Blu-Ray disc burner compress the footage? Do you recommend Blu-Ray disc burners for archiving footage or outputting for a master?

thanx,

Blu ray archiving currently is more expensive than bare drives for archiving.

Raw footage means what? MXF files. p2 contents? Blu ray can burn any data, so if it's quicktime, avi, etc. it can be burned to.

Output a feature? Meaning create a blu ray HD DVD? To my knowledge, only DVDit® Pro HD from Roxio permits that and it runs $500 plus the drive.

For data I doubt the blu ray compresses. For HD DVDs, of course is creates the DVDs by compressing.

Some of the Ulead products like Video Studio 10 Plus and DVD Movie Factory 5 Plus can also author BluRay and/or HD-DVD disks.

Gentlemen,

Yes, sorry MXF files. I should have been more specific. Annnnnnnnnd yes outputting a feature HD DVD. So essentially i am to understand that the only way currently to output a non-compressed feature from AVID Xpress is to output to HD TAPE. -i.e. renting an HD deck. Correct? What CD/DVD burners/drives would you recommend for burning MXF files to disc?
