FireStore Portable Recorder Yes or No

I have been shooting with the FS-100 and so far have not had any problems. I run this thing on a steadicam flyer and don't have time to stop and switch cards or take the rig off to do an upload.

I bought a FireStore FS-4 High Capacity Cradle (cradle only) directly from Focus Enhancements.

You can also get a foot long firewire cable there, But I got mine somwehere with a reverse right angle 4-pin plug. I also got a mini Noga Arm to attach the cradle to the top of my HVX200 or connect to my DVRigPro.

Lastly I went to Nebtek and had them build me a batery adapter so I could use the Panasonic Batteries to power the Firestore (the standard plug doesn't work, but they can get the right one from radio shack like everyone else). The only downside is I still have not found a good place to mount the battery adapter. Currently I velcro it around the top of the camera, but I'm thinking of redesigning it and getting a shoe mount to glue to the bottom of the adapter

Perhaps. But's it's easier for me to keep to one battery system for everything and only bring one charger.

I love my FS-100. But you do need to have at least one P2 card in a slot or the HVX does weird things like not send out time code. But if you don't want to use P2 cards, you can set the FS-100 to generate it's own timecode.

I didn't see any further mention of this. This seems like an small, but potentially troublesome problem. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks

I talked to a salesmen recently who said they have updated the firmware on the firestore since it came out so HVX users who had problems shouldn't have many any longer.
