How to have most control in post

Hi,

I was wondering what are some key settings and such to watch out for in order to have the most control in post (i.e. moreso overexposed, detail levels, etc.)

Thanks!

Eric

Well, I'm no expert, but using what I gleaned from this site, I generally work in progressive format, with cine-gamma if I control the lighting. I am at -3 on detail I believe, and use -3 on auto-iris to make sure I don't overexpose when I am not shooting a manual iris.

I find that this gives me fairly flat colors, gives me some room to sharpen if I want to, etc. In terms of audio, I try to keep peaks about 1 or 2 bars into the red which lets me push a bit hotter if desired, but also keeps dialog well above the noise floor so I get pretty clean sound.

That's just my crude way of getting to post with something useful.

Shoot progressive 24PA. With a pretty high pedestal... I have mine set to -3 or 0 all the time, and don't overexpose.
