they look like this:

at 5400 mAh, I assure you that you won't get 10 hours of use out of them. 5400 mAh is the spec for the CGA-D54 which is the standard battery of the dvx100b, supposedly good for about 4-5 hours of continous use.

Personally, if I had a cheaper camera I might get one at the price just to see how craptastic they really are(sure don't look high quality, it does mention they are non-OEM) But I would NEVER put one in my DVX for the same reason i don't run Indian milsurp 7.62mm through my $2K M1A. Good tools require good accessories, I recommend you get the DVXuser battery if you are looking for another battery.

I've got one. Haven't run it down to see how long it really lasts, but I haven't had any problems with it. Of course, I try to not leave batteries hanging off my DVX when not in use.

I would be wary of those eBay batteries deal. I tried to purchase some for my FX1 and wasted TWO MONTHS going back and forth between different sellers. All of them were really quick to take my money but they never shipped, and all of them were 99% feedback with hundreds of transactions! Can't tell you how many projects were compromised because of that.

I gt a 6000 Mah battery from ebay fpr 30 bucks and it wrks just as good as my DVX user batteries so far. The funny hting is it weighs a lot less than the 5600's.

I have this exact battery. I have tested it out. Hers the funny thing. It lasted me for 8 hrs. I know this because i left my cam on and closed it but never charged it and yes i counted the hrs to make sure its legit. The problem was after about 4 months the battery started diying in about 4.5 hrs. Now it's a piece of crap that became a paper wieght. Now i agree for 30 bux or 40 for 4 months of 8 hr recording is worth it. But i never tried the dvx batteries they sell on this site. Please let me know whats their life expectancy. Because i can get two batteries that will last me 4 months each for that price. Just curious. Also i sent back for warentee and they replaced it so i guess its worth it.

I have a friend who just got one of these (though, not from the ebay store) and they work great for him. Will have to see if it starts dieing in a few months.

I've been using these generic batteries from ebay for 4 years.

I've used a Sony 12 hr battery for long shoots over the past 4 years with no issues. I've used 2 Canon 8 hour batteries on a GL2 for 3 years with no issues. I have them for my DVX100 and have yet to experience any issue. They last quite a long time, not the full 8-10 hours but close enough...never had one fail or die on me.

Forget how long they last..any camera dmg?

Forget how long they last..any camera dmg?

Hey all,

Just picked up two DVX100B's for my indie film project (www.whiteparkourvideo.com) and am deciding where to get spare batteries from.

Clearly good tools deserve good accessories, but if the cheapie batteries are in fact the same thing, I say good for us. So the question is, are they?

These Ebay batteries lasting not very long in the long term doesn't turn me off, but I remember hearing something about crappy batteries not providing consistent power output and somehow messing with the internal motors of machines they are plugged into.

Anyone no anything more scientific or definitive on this aspect?

Not so long ago got about 30 of them for the in-house charger testing use, Panasonic and Sony. The run time did not matter, as long as they performed consistently. All of them delivered no more than about 75% of what their sticker said in mah. A few (about 2 or 3 ) were less than 1/2, so they were sent right back to the vendor. 3 Sony batteries fell apart almost immediately, their contacts were just falling off. After about 3 months of use 3 or 4 either died completely, or lost their capacity to less than 1/2 of were they started.
The rest of the lot goes strong, no problems.
So here is the conclusion: if you are OK with getting DOA, or failing battery and replacing it, save some $$ and take a chance. If you need consistent reliable performance, spend more $$ and get a good one.

I used a 5600 from ebay on my DVC and it would last for at least 6 hours...and thats with using servo zoom.

I have two of these. We were in crunch time for the 48 hour film festival, and our budget was hella low, since we are students. I bought one extra for each of my cameras. Held up great and were all I really used in the whole production phase.

I bought one of these, in fact, just got it on Saturday (3 days ago) i left the cam on all day, and out of the box, i'm very happy for the $25 i spent. Excellent bargin, even if it last for 4 months. Mine even came with an charger, House electric and car adapter too!

Here's the real issue. I have 2 Panasonic OEM batteries, both are nothing more than paper weights at this point. they die in about 5 minutes of use, not even recording. I place them on 2 different types of chargers, just to see if one is bad, and both batteries are done in about 10 minutes on the charger. just to die again in 5 minutes or less. Even though they're not supposed to build up memory, they have. I hate like hell to throw them out, is there a way to re-condition them, without spending 500 bucks?

Has anyone trie this
LENMAR BCR-336 Universal Battery Charger/Reconditioner

li
sted on amazon.com for 36 bucks.

would be great if it resurrected dead batteries.

It is not "memory". They are dead. The dead have no memory or feelings :-(

Dead, or, mostly dead?

Dead, or, mostly dead?

Alex,
so they really are dead, :crybaby:well that S**cks. will the reconditioner do anything? llike i said, it just sticks to get rid of batts that worked fine a few months back. there's always hope. eh?

Do you really want to know the answer? :Drogar-Evil(DBG):
If they are not too old, may be you can go back to the store you got them from? How old are they anyway? Capacity? If they are more than 3 years old, they are pretty much at the end of their life expectancy...
