Hey guys.. I'm new to this forum.

Well, I have recently made a new film called "Sanctuary". It is a dramatic short film about a young teenager struggling with the recent death of his brother. He is depressed and can't find the meaning to life. Through his hard times, the young teenager turns to the only place he can, his "Sanctuary", which is his piano.

I have uploaded the film to Youtube, so the quality is pretty bad... but, please tell me what you think!

Here's the link:

Enjoy! Thanks,

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for replying... this film was supposed to be sad, but in the end of the movie, the boy's life (or his happiness) fills back up, that's why I included the scene with the cup filling up. This happens because he returns to his Sanctuary, the piano, which helps him be closer with his brother...

And yep, I'm 15.... lol

This was like a compilation of Thomas Newman's Road to the Perdition score with some Beethoven in it. Had it said 'music by Thomas Newman' at the ending credits it would've completely cracked me up :D

Haha yeah. :)

Seriously though, a lot of nice stuff here, some very nice shots...loved the one at 1:35 or so, with him walking down the road, and the orange leaves shot around 3:55.

Keep it up man!

Haha.. funny Herman.. yeah Thomas Newman is a great composer, and the music seemed to work. I wanted to keep the credits short for the Youtube version, so I didn't include any music credits...

And thank you very much Chris! Reading your comment made me happy that all our hard work paid off...

Thanks everyone that watched my film, and I will be making other short films soon, so watch for those... they are going to be even better! Thanks again everyone...

Okay actually suicidefilms, I didn't use a DVX ( *gasp*... lol)

BTW, I've never heard of Randy Newman, so I couldn't use his music. The Road to Perdition Soundtrack seemed to have a good effect on the film...

If you want to see what equipment I actually used... go here:

I told everyone the equipment I used on reply #8

Thanks for watching the film,

Wow. Thats really impressive for a 15 year old and the equpiment you used. Great work, some really nice shots you got there. Keep it up! I can't wait to see more!

Thank you so much Jarrod!! I really appreciate your comment... it makes all the time and effort into making these films worth it! You are very kind, and thank you for watching my film and commenting on it!

I have begun my work on my latest film, so I will try to finish that as soon as possible. This newest film has a better story, and we will be spending more time on cinematography and acting...

Thanks again Jarrod, and thanks all that have commented... it really means a lot!

Really not bad for 15. A little melodramatic in some instances, but no big deal. Strangely it kept me watching, which a lot of shorts don't.

I can see you're developing a vision, which is really good. The shots aren't empty, because they all have some sort of meaning. Many seasoned filmmakers have trouble achieving this.

Thanks Paul, I'm glad you liked it! And thanks for taking the time to watch it, I appreciate your response. And nemesis, thank you for your kind reply, it really means a lot. I was trying to only add shots in the film that were important to the story, and that helped the overall mood... and I'm glad you could see that.

Thank you so much everyone, for your kind replies, it really means a lot after taking so much time to make this short.... you guys are awesome!

Thanks again,

Colin
