M D Productions presents: 'Violet'

Hi Ted,

Thanks, glad you liked the grabs. The golden lighting is actually a manipulation of the in camera settings with filtration on the mattebox and a really well chosen location. Getting the "look" that we need is something that I try to do in production, not post (as much as possible).

Nearly all the wardrobe for this came from two well know vintage clothing shops here. The "MEMBERS ONLY" style jacket as well as the sweater and vest that "Emily" is wearing came from JET RAG in Hollywood. We also purchased other vintage items from BUFFALO EXCHANGE in Fullerton. Very little was purchased as new items except for the school uniforms (not seen in this scene) that we got from an on-line uniform wholesale supplier, which we will have to "age" a bit before we use them.

Looking forward to seeing you on set for "Threading the Needle" soon.

Kevin

Thanks Sid, so glad you liked them. I will be sending you a link via a PM once I get closer to a lock on a few of the scenes. This will at least give you an idea as to the "feel" that we are getting.

I know that this one will be a bit of a challenge to score based upon the number of edits.

Working on the next location now.

More to follow.

wew hew! incredible grabs! I'm anxious to actually hear what they are saying now ;) Good luck! Oh, and ya... "oooh the 80's" :)

Thanks Charli, glad you liked the frame grabs.

and

Thanks Jason, glad you liked the information that we are posting too. I am trying my best to keep this thread informative and useful.

More to follow.

Say what you will about that little 'ole DVX100 4:3 1/3" 4:1:1 SD camera . . . that thing still makes some real puurty images! (In the skilled hands of someone like khmuse, of course!). 'Course having a cast that's easy on the eyes helps, too!

Thanks Rez!

I gotta agree, in the right conditions, the dvx is still a great little camera! I plan on mixing images from a number of different cameras for this project, including 2/3" and film.

Casting from really strong and attractive talent never hurts either!

Doesn't that guy remind you of Dexter?
If this has been said forgive me, I didn't read through all the posts.
Nice screenies dude.

Wow, this thread has really taken off the past few days!

Kevin, looking very good. Can't wait to actually get to work on the thing... :)

Yes, the talent here is very strong, as you can tell.

I attended the sagindie workshop and agree that it's something that should definitely be on your agenda as an independent filmmaker. They discuss from short films up to low budget. Their main focus is ultra low budget and modified low budget during the workshop.

And last, but not least, I actually own a members only jacket...

Glad you are liking the frame grabs, but who is "Dexter"?

Hey Tom,

Can't wait to get you on set but with all Ted has planned for you on Threading the Needle, it might not be until our third weekend of production.

Perhaps I will give Nathanael the Members Only jacket when we are finished and the two of you can start a club!

Hey Brandon,

We are shooting at a school this coming weekend and then out at an old cemetery in Pomona on the following. Got the permits for the school, but not certain if we have gotten everyone's permission on the cemetery yet. In between I will be shooting a number of SFX scenes for "Threading the Needle" so its a pretty busy December so far.

I hear that you will be ADing for us next month out at Cable. Good as we will certainly need someone to keep us all on our toes for that set of scenes.

It will be good to finally meet you in person next month, though with the number of posts exchanged, I almost feel as if we already have.

Kevin, awesome! Looking forward to hopefully seeing some more screens next weekend!

Yeah, that's the plan for January! I think it should be a blast, and I'l looking forward to meeting you as well!
