My Graduation film: "Flat Rider"

That was very good. Much more charming than I imagined it would be. "Paralyzed from the waist up" is brilliant.

Good luck with it,

Chris

Thanks!
Mystico, I'm not sure about the frigerator pixelation thing, I haven't really noticed it. But it was underlit on that area, that's for sure.

Is it possible to get a copy of that one mr. director? By the way, I lost the adress of the location :(, do you have it by any change?

Greetz Niels

haha, i thought it was pretty good. I was cracking up over the rape child part, only cause im weird like that. 'and my mother was raped... and here i am!'

The lighting didnt throw me off too much, but if you have to try to mix night time shots into day time shots, don't use the ones where you have windows with night in them. ;-)

man, that video is great. well done!

how long did it take to write the script?

Yeah I know, the thing with the mixed night shots and day shots sucks. But we
had to use them because of the strict shooting rules.
I got the idea for the script some time during my christmas holiday, so I had it
on my mind for quite a period. When the the deadline for handing in scripts at my school creeped up on me I wrote it in aprox. 3 days, but it went through
4-5 re-writes after that.

Niels, I can't remember the adresse either :) but send me your
adresse info on: andersnettli@gmail.com and I'll send you a new copy.

-cheers!

that was a diamond in the rough idea, a reverse paraplegic sounds like it could get lost in the making but that was a very well done short, the humor was pulled off without fault, i especially liked the line "you can roll but you cant run dumbass" .... the irony was perfect, good job

Thank you. hehe, the "you can roll but you cant' run" line was actually improvised
by the actor, great guy :)

Hey Smettli,
i have always loved your films my favourite would have to be "Blind Hatred", that was fricken awesome man. Just wondering what your settings on "Flat Rider" and "Blind Hatred" were if you can remember and on which films did you use an anamorphic adapter on. What are your opinions on the adapter.
Cheers Tats

Hey tatsuo, thanks for the kind words :)
I used the anamorphic adapter on "blind Hatred" only, can't really remember
the setteings for my dvx on "flat rider" since I had a seperate DP on that one, but
we shot with stock lens with 1/60 shutter and pretty much factory settings at scene f6 I believe. The Adapter works pretty good, but the biggest problem with it
is that it's impossible to get sharp focus when zoomed all the way in since more vertical lines are crushed into the frame. That's why I have only used it when
shooting in tight places, cause it works great as a wide lens and you do get
true 16:9. Blind hatred was pretty much shot at factory scene f6 settings and we used the anamorphic adapter in every shot.

-Cheers!

I haven't been on here for a long time, but I always enjoyed your films and wanted to check this one out. Is there something wrong with the site/host because it says it will take over 300 hours to download (and I'm on a cable modem). Let me know.

I have actually had an earlier version of this film saved to my laptop for quite some time. Glad to see it's finally finished!

Hehe, cool. Though it has been finished for quite some time now :)

Joey_b, the host and link works for me. Just tested it and got 300kb/s through
the whole download. Maybe it was slow earlier today, you never know with these
hosts :)

well done. very story driven. I think my favorite line was

"Do you have a restroom i can use ?" "do you have to ?"

Well done! I enjoyed it. I second the comment on creating a feature either on these characters or including them in some way.

Wow, Very well done. I can't get over how professional the image looks that your got from your dvx100. I am new to my dvx100 and still can't come close to producing images like that. But your short film proved it's true to get beautiful images from the dvx100. When you weren't using the anamorphic adapter on scene6, were you shooting in Squeeze mode?

Great film! Thanks for posting it!

Hey brett! Actually, I have the first version of the dvx-100(e) series, so no Squeeze mode option :( Everything that's not shot with the anamorphic adapter, is shot in 4:3 and cropped later on in post.

Yeah the download speed picked up later and I was able to watch it. Once again your work has impressed me. Awesome job. I can't wait to see your future work.
