Gamma and matrix settings with neon lighting??

Hi all,

I used my DVX100b for the first time with neon lighting (filming on a squash court) a few weeks ago, and the results are a bit strange: there's a constant variation of hue in the image (it's very subtle), the whole image going red, then green, then blue (each color lasting 2-3 seconds). I mean, it's so subtle my mom wouldn't see it even if I told her, but I see it very much, more on my computer screen than on a tv. Is this normal? I was filming in 30p mode with the gamma set to cinelike and the matrix set to cinelike.

So I was wondering if that variation could be cause by the use of "automatic" settings in unstable lighting conditions such as neon??

Thanks for anyone's input on that.

Yes. You probably have Auto Track White going, and it's changing the white balance as lighting conditions change subtly.

Thanks for your input. I' m just wondering: can the ATW function be ON without it showing on the LCD screen??

AWT would rather correct for the fluorescent lamp color temp changes. Set your cam to the lowest possible shutterspeed to minimize these effects.

It was set to 1/60 when these images were shot. I was also wondering: I was filming the lights, and when you ffw through these shots, you can clearly see the size of the halos fluctuating. Can this all be linked?
