really beautiful work here - can you tell us what lenses you used - your falloff didnt seem to be an issue and your corner focus seemed very good

add the HVX settings please ;o)

Good job! Did you have a hard time lighting outside? did you use reflectors or hmi for any of the outdoor shots during day?

Thanks

Settings: Scene File 5... hehe. I like to keep it simple.

I would always sugguest a matte in NEPs in post. It'll get rid of that little soft edge and you have the option to adjust the frame if the composition doesn't suit you.

I haven't dealt with falloff issues except with my 35mm angle lens. It goes way soft, wide open, and vingettes some. I'm thinking I need to purchase a newer/better 35 lens. Anyone totally satisfied with their Nikon 35mm angle lens? What year is it and what are the specs?

All that stuff is on the HVX/M2 setup. And it is a tad moody, but that's what those three projects on the reel were all about... very heavy stuff.

sorry, caspian00... I love outside stuff, and so does the HVX/M2. Yes I used gold, silver reflectors, and bounce board, and negative fill, and all the tools of the trade... at least the ones I know about.

Fist off, I agree with everyone that your stuff looks amazing. I feel I am watching a beautiful silent film when I view your demo reel (perhaps it's a little slow and moody as others might say for a demo reel) but still very impressive.

I'm working on a project that will be shoot outdoors and I wonder if you could run through some of your outdoor setups (what, how and where reflectors were placed), especially for these two shots:

I know this asking a lot but it would really be appreciated, thanks - Jeremy

This is very impressive & amazing work - The best HVX/m2 demo I've seen.. You fooled me, thought it was film..

Sorry Seth but I'm a bit confused. You say here that you shot with...

But on the Redrock forum you said... "I shoot on Cine N- HD Normal". Could you please clarify.

Thanks.
Pete.

What a CLEAN/COOL ass reel!!!
Could you explain how you accomplished the soldiers flying back from the explosion? That's awesome.

Still looking for the how-to!

sorry... I've missed a few questions.

thanks matty_g for posting a response from redrock forum

The only thing I changed (which i had forgotten about until someone asked) was the Cine N, otherwise it was the regular settings.

NEP= Nonlinear Editing Program i.e. FCP, Vegas, Avid, etc.

COMMENTS ON THAT SHOT POSTED: just a little white board bounce for fill. That is what we call MAGIC HOUR, baby. Check out Nestor Almendros' Days of Heaven. I say Nestor's, not Malick's, cause he was the DP. It's all Magic Hour- and he got an Academy Award for it. Not that my footage is even close that that stuff!... but it is shot during the same time of day.

Yes... the Demo is a bit drawn out, but to me its a pacing thing. The music plays into the melodrama as well.

That top frame grab is the shot that l liked the most. It's such a pleasing looking shot. Did you use any filters on the cam or affect it in post?

That is an AMAZING film. It took them a year to shoot it right? Set up all day to shoot for 15 minutes. Glad you were following in this tradition.

Had the sun gone down when you snapped them.. or just above the horizon?
