shopping injury

Charli

cool little "title"
I hurt my right wrist holding clothes on a hanger. Sheesh! I feel like a moron.
How bad is it? I'll need to ice my wrist at least twice today. Now I know
shopping is a dangerous sport.

God, this is going to sound sexist, but what the hell. Only a woman could get an injury shopping...her favorite sport...:)

I feel for you Charli,I have been in and out of wrist brace for six months..no fun typing less fun shooting. Thank the Creator I am not shooting with an Iki anymore! Get well, use ice and keep and eye on inflamation. Advil helps.

Carpal tunnel compression, maybe...? Sounds like something that an orthopaedist, or acupuncturist, or chiropractor might be able to help out with.

If all else fails...sue the retailer. (1) Their low prices and quality inventory constituted an irresistable attractant (2) Their unergonomically-designed hangars, combined with the weight of the clothes you were enticed into purchasing, created a hazardous condition leading directly to your injury.

LMAO, there's a script in there...somewhere...

Or an actual lawsuit.

After all, if you can be sued and/or arrested because you have a swimming pool in your backyard ("maintaining an attractive nuisance"), why not this?

lol - you guys are funny. I hurt my wrist a year ago fencing, think I might have
had a hairline fracture, through ancupuncture it got better but it's always a tad
sore here and again. Now, if I had slipped on something, oh, yeah, I'll sue.

I had a friend sue a company because he hurt himself assembling a bbq grill.
He was an idiot who couldn't put it together, still, the company settled to get
rid of him.

Thanks for the sentiment, though, that was nice, still, I feel like a moron.

Mmm...I might have grounds to sue some of my ex-girlfriends, for having turned out to be 'attractive nuisances...'

Charli - foil, sabre, epee...? I used to fence regularly, back east. Sabre was hands-down my favorite.

Sad - attractive nuisance, huh? I fence foil, though a friend of mine wants me to
fence epee (non-thinkers). Might be kind of nice to just point and score. Sabre,
so, you're an agressively little geek, huh? Sabre is the most violent of hacking.

One of my guest slipped on grapes at Safeway, she hurt her shoulder, yep, I
smell a lawsuit. We are calling her the "grape lady" now.

The only fencing I've done is to help mark and divide land, though I have always been intrigued by the art of fencing (sword fighting) and would love to learn it someday.

Fenced in college. After a while no one would fence with me. Or watch from the sidelines.

Disarmed too many opponents. Got no style, but a lot of power. Or did.

But it was the only phys ed course I ever took voluntarily. :)

Never fenced the classic way. It was just a couple of blokes with hockey sticks trying to kill each other.

Hmm maybe you could invent and sell shopping wrist braces - the indieshopobrace

Where I went to school, we called that game 'street hockey.'

Malc - lol, oh now that's a plan.

Larry - I think a lot of people like the romance of fencing. Two people, dueling,
very medieval. I felt that way as well. I decided to check my local fencing club
and just so happen, they meet just up the street from me. I joined. After 6 months
I bought gear. It's very, very physcial. The 3-minute bout seems like forever.

I now have an appreciation for boxers I've never had before. The only problem
with fencing is that they say it takes 10 years to really know how to fence.
I hate to say this, but they are right, and this is why, fencing is COMBAT, and it
takes that long to understand the art of war.

It's you against them with a steel metal sword. I've broken a friends sword and
had that broken part plow right into my chest. Thank God for protective gear.

Trust me, it's not a sport for the faint-hearted. My rugby friend, who is a terror
out in the field, could not handle a day of fencing because of the weapon -
the foil. It's very intimidating to have an object thrust at you then to have
a person tackle you.

As you have supposed, the fact I played rugby and fence means I have a lot
of inner hostility - ha ha ha. Oh, God, that was funny.
