Is there a diy version of for hvx200 zoom controller

I am building an underwater housing for my HVX200, and I was wondering if there is a diy version for the hvx200 zoom controller.

I will make an external electronic control to minimize the amount of holes in the main (camera)housing case. The controller will have its own (controller)case. So the 2 cases will be joined by a cord .

I just wanted references to gain confidence in building my own. I have taken my Varizoom PFZI controller apart and observed that it is a simple device with potentiometers and switches.

Perhaps if there are any caveats regarding the controller and/or building one.

If you are wondering why would I want to build one when I already have one.
Well after learning about its simplicity, I believe it's overpriced . Another is that I can make my own that would save me alot. Furthermore in my endeavor to making it waterproof I won't worry about losing alot if ever it fails.
