With the Nikon F mount being announced (only just found out from this thread), I'm now officially interested in the Red camera for the first time.
Yup. That's EXACTLY how I felt when I found out about the F-mount deal! RED's no longer $17.5K + $10K for a lens, meaning probably $30K+ package. No, it's now $17.5K + $1K storage + Nikon F-mount option + some inexpensive Nikkors. Sorry to take this thread so off-topic. Had RED not been invented, I wouldv'e been all over that hot new Panasonic 2/3" HPX500 camera, the original subject of this thread!

Welcome to the club, Rezfactor! ;) Red will resolve much if not everything in a controlled environment for dramatic productions. But those "old" boring 2/3" pannys seem to be perfect for reliable adquisition if you don´t have to go 4k and don´t need extremely shallow dof. Or go RED or go Panasonic but I woulnd´t chose the SI: Not that rugged like a Panny and not that perfect for dramatic work like the RED (at least on the paper...)

RezFactor, I think your dream camera may have arrived!

Barry, $17-$18k for the AG-HPX500 certainly sounds appealing. I'm definitely interested, as this is the first 2/3" HD camera potentially within reach of my budget. But I'm unfamiliar with typical costs of 2/3" HD lenses. Can you shed any light on this topic?

HD lenses are not inexpensive, but there's a better selection being announced all the time. Count on $12k for a cheap lens, $60k for excellent glass...
