A grotesque movie about a black Nazi, racism and the stupid racist party NPO. Produced with HVX 200 (stock lens)

It`s a dogma-style-movie so a lot of run and gun!

We worked a lot with laptop (BetaVersion of DVRack2),
but it was still possible to run trough the streets etc.
Thanks for watching!

That has a nice look and feel. Kind of a crazy concept but that is a good thing to set it apart. What's your projected distribution, etc? Like the fight hits and realism. Really helps sell that mood blue was talking about. Another great way to turn a low-budget obstacle and create a style out of that...

Kind of the dramatic turn and change over Chapelle's clayton Bigsby. This guy doesn't look like he has a sense of humor either....

Also, the look kind of reminded me of "I Stand Alone" which also could be discribed as grotesque. I like the ability of this camera to look like indie 16mm as in this trailer and also look so polished as in "the lodge" trailer another user posted recently.

Anyone out there who doesn't know the range of this camera you're really missing out.

We only had the Laptop to capture direct to disk, but this wasn`t a problem, only sometimes we had to wait for the laptop to recharge, when we shot outside.
I like Lars von Trier and his Dogma95 Style very much, so this movie was impressed by Dogma-Style.
The HVX was pal - edited with edius which is really good and fast - only sound whe do in other software.
Actually whe used this time an centrino (not dualcore) 1.8Ghz Notebook, to capture direct to disc - never had any probs. when shooting this way (720p).

Thanks for comments!

Yeah the trailers cool but man what was your setup, i mean how did you accomodate a laptop like that - as many of your shots have a lot of movement?

a carpenter build me a box from light wood, so I could run and gun, but mostly another guy carried the notebook so we where sometimes three man (boom camera and laptop) connected with cables, who had to run togehther, but with a little pratice, we mastered this without any problems after 2 or 3 days.

I think I shoul post a picture of the box - you can carry the notebook and have your hands free for the camera! really cool - so if i find a pic - i`ll post it!

the story doesn't make sense. Nazis were kiling blacks. a Nazi was a purist they hated blacks. How could there be a CONVINCING black nazi? is this the story as the title dipicts? if so sounds like a Bullshit storyline

Is the black guy blind? and does Clayton Bigsby from the Chappelle Show make a cameo? LOL, I did like the cinematography of it though!!

Jesus nycfilmmaker, why be so negative!?

Neo-Nazism is something far more complex than the stereotypes of ww2 nazism, and (was even more complex back then) than a simple aryan anology.

The roots of neo-nazism are complex especially in contemporary society, and its entirely possible that one could make a storyline like this.

Politics and life are far more complicated than a mere black or white scenario lol in both morality and race.... get with the times... nyc ;)

Hello all for comments, here are some answers.
We`ll have subtitles because we`ll send it to festivals, if finished i post.
We used DVRack 2 Beta to capture direct to disk - it was very stable and useable.
I`ve asked for laptopboxpictures, but nobody took a good picture of this - so if i have time i`ll do and post a pic.
@nyc filmmaker: Do you know the meaning of grotesque?
Of course it doesn`t make sense for the black to join the racist german party like in the movie - but because of this setting there a some surreal situations which show the stupid thinking of racists in a very impressive, never seen before way.
Maybe if there would be subtitles you would understand the sense of the movie. We had a lot of hatemails und hatecomments from nazis
on youtube and also in our private mailbox - but i take this as a compliment.

i think it looks very intersting..please keep us posted ....i appreciate filmmakers who take a chance on harsh subjects and i'm glad that dogme95 is still happening

respect

The point is, that the black guy is put under a very big pressure by the neo-nazi guys. Then he is starting to interest himself for the reasons the Neo-Nazis have. Instead of trying to fight the other force, he joins them by being more "violent", "more nazi" then the original offenders. This is pretty common in many parts of modern society.
Eine sehr schöne Arbeit! Mir gefallen die bewegten Aufnahmen sehr gut. Die Premiere wir in Dresden stattfinden?

homepage looks cool...

The funny thing with this is the legitimacy and style/mood you are able to pull of by it being a German Language film... as well. Like it wouldn't seem as menacing or real or harsh if you did it in English. The language and the history add so much to it.. Kind of like Wenders, Wings of Desire. Had such a mood and feel with the language and the locations...

Like with me for example, if I were to make a uber intellectual pretentious art piece, I'd had to have it done in Sweedish. Just allows the flowery language and ideas to just come across... as it wouldn't be nearly as credible in English or something...

Keep us updated and when you get a subtitled version. I think a sub-titled trailer might be extremely beneficial in the mean time. Get more exposure and see what happens... congrats!

new version on first site of the thread

Hello people, we had a very busy time because of this movie - we got invited to several festivals and discussions, sometimes got paied sometimes not. But it was alsways interesting because of the reactions. In the last two months, we were invited by many schools to show the movie and discuss about the thema.
The last month the movie was shown for 4 times in our local arthousecinemaand we got the most audience in this month, so the owner asked us to show the movie also in the next month several times again.

Justin: We (the directors) are also big fans of Wenders, but a lot more of Fassbinder, Antonioni, Trier and the favourite Tarkowski.

Please comment. Thanks
