best shotgun mic and stabilzer

Hi All- just building a set up for virtual tours of buildings and comments as you go.
HVX200 .
best stabilizer and best shotgun? Or maybe not best but affordable.
Mic 200 to 400
stabilizer 400-800 (plus vest or body pod)
You've porbably gone over this ground before but I'm a newbie.
thanks for the advice.
Cheers!
Damon

While the Merlin does fly the HVX very well, it won't fly the HVX with a shotgun attached.

Why do you want to use a shotgun? If it's walk & talks, would not a Wireless lapel mic work better? - And yup, that you can fly on the Merlin.

Went for the mic. and deciding on where to mount on the HVX. Want to use a shock mount and have a fuzzy windscreen.
Acces. Shoe? SIde clamp?
What about that unknown screw hole near the rear of the handle by viewfinder? That could keep any extensions off the front.
Appreciate the help.
Cheers!
Damon
You all must have some suggestions and preferences

It's the weight. Even though a short shotgun is very light, because the Merlin is already running right on the edge of the specs with the stock HVX and battery, it would probably throw it over the edge.

OK, I think the hole at the rear of the handle is for a FS100 or mic rec. mount.
In practice, 3 things will be done;
1. virtual tour of building space- stabilizer
2. Interviews and coverage of events at the space.
3. One person interviews.

IS glidecam4000 a decent way to go with the arm brace? Spaces aren't huge.
I'm just about ready to go to some of the stores with my rig and test em.

Yes wireless for the one person interview (possible shotgun doing double duty here)
Shotgun for walkaround events .
Handhelds when talking to bigger group in walkaround.

Then we get to on board lights. The Litepanels seem great. and expensive.
also another weight onto the camera.

I am open to any and all suggestions here. From what i've read you are al a pretty knowlegable group.

I produced the American Idol music vids last year and used strictly varicam. Loved the workflow.

This is a smaller more personal business for me.

thanks for your help.

Yeah, too much weight for the Merlin.

In fact, with a Shotgun and a Litepanel (and mic reciver too?) on your camera, it's going to be far too heavy to use on any handheld stabilizer - Just too heavy to carry! You are going to have to look into a rig with an arm and a vest. Run a search and you'll find loads of information.

The Oktava is nice for certain apps, but it's very very vulnerable to handling noise, and it's reach leaves something to be desired. I have an Oktava and a AT 4073A, and would much prefer to use the latter for the purposes outlined.

So I'm thinking that when on a stabilizer- no shotgun,no light, wireless rec. at most.
Handheld- light and shotgun , or rec. and handheld mic.(at most)-at event
Sticks- lighting, wireless lav

Just picked up a bracket that will shotgun and light off the shoe.

Heard the side mounting bracket on 200 wasn't very good.

Start running light and sound tests for the next few days.
Then onto stabilzer.
May just go to Alan Gordon with rig to check it all out.

Good guys?

Thanks

If you are just flying the camera with Mic Rec. on the stabilizer. Then get the Merlin and the Merlin Accessory plate and you will be set for that.
