So avoid sony and dell lcd tvs. I went into a best buy today and they have a large selection of affordable panasonic hd tvs. The resolution looked fantastic, so should i pull the trigger on one of them?
If they cover the resolution you need (720 or 1080) and have component inputs, I'd say go for it. While it won't be a broadcast monitor, unless you are going to film, this will be what your audience uses to watch your production.
I got a Samsung 19" HD LCD...it was like $450 at CC. It's...OK...but after I ran an AVIA disc on it, it actually looked pretty good. I'm not gonna do anything critical with it, but it makes a nice client monitor.
I know the Marshall seems to be the standard around here, but for the price of it you can buy a 42 inch LCD or plasma. I just want something to use in the field that is portable, will provide a sharp picture, and will give me a better way to focus my Letus35 Flip Enhanced other than the on camera's LCD display.
I was working a music video shoot yesterday with two DVXs and saw a Jensen JTFT-700 being used for the stabilizing unit's monitor. It looked great. I figured it was expensive, but I did a search and found it at Circuit City for only $150.
I found three 7 inch LCD 16x9 widescreen displays for under $250.
You are not going to find anything for less than $1300-$1500. For Now Marchall is pretty much the only game in town for a serious monitor. The Panasonic one is even better but much more expensive.
I've actually been waiting for Black Magic to release their Intensity card which has HDMI out. I was planning on buying an LCD TV/Monitor with HDMI-in to use as a preview monitor. So Mac Pro to LCD TV/Monitor through Black Magic's intensity. Sound Wise? I should get pretty great monitoring right?
