This is the cine-reel from an HVX/M2 short I did last week. We had a nice tungsten/kino/hmi/grip kit. The crew was tiny but we managed pretty well.

We have a lot more set photos coming up. The color grading is temporary but I tried to keep the tone consistant.

Nice work, I like how you've controlled the dof. I've been getting a little annoyed with so much extreme heavy dof with m2 material. Your footage felt very natural and didn't draw too much attention to itself.

Very nice work Matt. It looks like you've hard-mounted the M2 onto the HVX with only the achromat between them?

Nice work as usual Matt.

Question about hard mounting - if you hard mount how do you adjust back focus (m2 to camera) distance when finetuning to get corner to corner sharpness?

PO - HVX/M2 HD achro. Nikon glass. Varizoom SD Monitor. 300/650/1k Arri Fresnel, 2'x4 kino (day/tung), 1200w HMI Fresnel, grip/electric stuff.

GR - Thanks. Most of the shots have the HMI through the window so I could close down and not default to wide open.

T/S - Its not hard mounted. Hardmounting IMO doesn't work. The M2 isn't like the mini35 or movietube, you need to always be checking its status. Its not a walk away rig and hard mounting just provides a false sense of security.

J - Thanks. Probably won't have a trailer, its a 15 minute short. But again this is the cine-reel, it just happens to arranged in a semi-narrative order.

Cheers,

These look great, the second one works great with the M2, without it I think it would be very cluttered/busy. Thanks for all the info.

The production designer would have killed me if I pushed out the background out of focus in everyshot. Also the locations are really nice.

There is a reason a lot of big DP's shoot a 5.6

Cheers,

You mentioned you used the varizoom SD screen. How was it working with a SD screen on a HD footage? Did you have problems getting proper focus?
