COUNTDOWN: Epic Action Film (60+ People)

Hey thanks for the compliments fantasticfilm. Well, I'm not in Singapore right now - I'm actually in LA, but the 3 other directors will actually be filming a prequel ro Countdown with Canon's new XHa1 'dvx killer' sometime next week if you're interested...

Btw where do I go to get those compressors? Someone help me out here? Thanks.

Nathyn, thanks for your feedback too. I basically used ActionFilmEssentials. I believe they have a presence somewhere here on site. I didn't know how to use Adobe AE so thats why they kinda sucked. And my computer, a dual core 4 GB RAM machine actually kept crashing because the project file was too big and took up 3k RAM. You get the idea.

We spent about 3000-4000 on this project. We had about 70-odd people donating about $20 each and producers who donated about $200 each. I personally paid about 1 grand myself. The huge budget eater (no pun intended) was food, transport, and lastly the illegal firearms featured. Singapore bans all replicas and firearm look alikes so... Yeah... Alot of moolahs went into hiring smugglers lol!

Send me link to your film btw. I'm keen on watching.

Yup I was gonna post a reply in the matts video forum but I see your here as well :) (matts video guts is a cute amatuer video forum)

Anyway seeing as ur here I'll give my comments here!

I think for the fact, that you guys are highschool kids etc, that this film is a brilliant achievment. Its something that I could no way do when i was 16, and some of those production values would be 'awkward' for any low budget adult producer! haha

So congratulations on ur film now, and tell us, whats going on for u in LA now :)

Hey hi

Hey hi

Hi guys, really appreicate the all the comments and advice..
Whats the best way to stimulate a gunfire during production... and during post

fantasticfilm: hey mate, I'm in singapore.. maybe you could pm me your msn details and we meet up sometime or something.

Cheers
David

hey I am very impressed with the movie good luck with everything!!! It's great to see fellow asian filmmakers pursuing their dreams!

Thanks.

Haha what can I say? School sucks, man.

Hey I've heard that the muzzle flashes suck alot. Is there any way to improve them without using Adobe AE (It kills my computer)?

Use blanks - but thats during production. Can't change much there. Alternatively what you can use is photoshop - export a film strip then open it in photoshop and roto the muzzle flash on it

Hi Matt!

Long time no see! Yeah I need help with compressing haha. I tried using the H.264 codec in my quicktime pro but it just aint working. I know how to export it and stuff but its just somehow not working ('Compressed' to 1 GB Lol!) or turning out in 4:3 resolution.

Artbeats clips. I use them inside FCP and they're wonderful! Real muzzle flashes. (Atleast I've fooled a ton of people with them).

Alright folks... let's give all the young people involved with this project a round of applause. What an effort! Fantastic. No criticisms here... just keep going forward.
I like the models (24,Matrix, and others) that your production is based on...
We're all happy for you.

production value was amazing. I can't believe it was done in only 2 days too. This kicks the crap out of the half hour action movie I made when I was 16! Very inspirational, keep up the good work.

where did you get the gun/richochet sound fx? I like them a lot.

Gosh I'm surprised this thread is till going! I was looking for it today on a spur-of-the-moment spirit in Pages 4-10 expecting it to be forgotten and archieved. Little did I expect it to still be on page one haha.

Ookay okay enough ego-ing. Anyway, thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciate it (:

Lol DerrickTemptation you're like the first person who says the FX Is nice. Everyone else think they suck (Rightly so heh). Thanks man!

Oh I used Action Essentials. I think their maker is a member here if you want some discount (:

Haha we have a little miscommunication here. I was asking about your sound effects. I think Action Essentials is all video effects, or do they also include sounds in their package? Anyway, where did you get those sounds? Thanks!
