Capturing from ntsc tape through pal camcorder

I have some ntsc video footage on a dv tape.
I have a sony PAL camcorder, which can run the ntsc tape fine in the lcd and it even shows NTSC while running it

When I use PAL in Adobe PPro 1.5 (matrox xtreme pro) it gives me garbled video during capture, and

When I use NTSC in (matrox xtreme pro) it gives me the error "YOUR DV-1394 DEVICE'S VIDEO STANDARD DOES NOT MATCH YOUR SYSTEM'S VIDEO STANDARD (NTSC or PAL)."

Do I have any solution to capture the ntsc tape through a pal camcorder?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunaly this probabaly won't work.

You need a NTSC camera to capture a NTSC tape.
... Which shouldn't be too hard to find in Canada as it's NTSC teretorry. ... why do you have a PAL camera up there anyway?

I had one from back home. I do have a NTSC DVX but I am unsure to use it for capturing purposes as I have heard that that the head gets damaged if you use the camera a lot for capturing

Aah, fair enough.

Yeah you should use another deck to minimize wear on your DVX. Unfortuanly a PAL deck isn't going to do the job for you.

I used my old NTSC camera to capture some pal tapes. It worked fine. I did it in Vegas some months back.

...Of course, I don't think my camera has been the same since.
