Probably, from the invoice from the company you purchased it from. The same way you would find out. By looking at a copy of the invoice or receipt they sent you.

Man, I guess it sucks sometimes to get a thing when it first comes out. I almost wish I would have waited on getting the camera. But I've had mine since Febuary and I've loved every minute with it.

When I tried to submit my application, I was blocked because the serial number was blocked or doesn't exist. I'm guessing that's because I submitted it earlier to get Barry's book—which I've received. But that shouldn't lock me out of an 8 GB P2 card. Similar experiences or suggestions?

Did you by any chance include the "R" at the end of the serial number when you entered it? Until I noticed that they said to leave that off it wouldn't accept my application either. Once I deleted it, it went through.

I would think all eligible owners, based on time of purchase, are entitled to a book and a card whether they've already received the book or not. If you have, you'd just get the card. Makes sense, no?

Yep, me too. If I had it to do all over again I would . . . make the exact same decision.

Bummer for the people that just missed it by a couple of days but you gotta figure the promo was for folks that had not already purchased -- Kinda cool though that they went back to October 1st . . . I know that had to make somebody happy. Okay, I'll admit it, I WISH THEY WENT BACK TO FEBRUARY!!!

Then again I suppose I could have waited another couple of years (about the time the HVX becomes obsolete) and pay a mere $1200 bucks for it. Just watch, there are still some out there who will do just that . . .

(not sure for what, but they are . . . waiting).

exact same thing happened to me, i sent panasonic an email about it and am still waiting to hear back.

im pretty sure its because we already got our book as a rebate and the system is just automatically rejecting our requests
 
I've already received Barry's book, but I didn't have any problem yesterday when I entered my serial number.

Also, did you notice the page now says the purchase dates of 11/1/2006 to 12/31/2006? But if you enter just a date on the form (one in Oct.), it won't throw up any warnings for it. I had no problem entering my Oct. date yesterday.

I'm going to keep checking the status of my rebate and see if I get denied, either for already requesting the book or for buying in Oct.
 
At least you guy's have an offer... here in Oz we're even locked out for Barry's book... I can't even get the Panny rep to give me a price on a 3rd 8gig card...
 
Australian dealers are carrying the book; VideoGuys and VizCom both have it. But it's not offered as a bundled/freebie there.
 
This is bull. I bought my camera the last week of October and ordered Barry's book. Today I was denied the P2 card. I threw down for THREE 8gig P2 cards at the time! I feel robbed. Every time I buy a computer I can expect something better in about three months. This is a kick in the nuts! I'm NOT happy. Would I have waited a WEEK to buy the camera and SAVE $1,100? YES!!! But after the purchase a scant few days later I am denied getting something for free when I've already spent $3,300 on three P2 cards. NICE BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!! I'm pissed!

I think you're still eligible. I'm 99.9% certain the P2 card rebate is good back to Oct 1st, contrary to what the rebate site now indicates. You were probably denied the application because it's now one app for BOTH the card and the book, and you have the book, thus they have your camera's serial number on file as an "already rebated" number, etc. You should contact Veronica at the site by email or phone (she's been very responsive to my inquiries thus far), and get yourself in line for the card part of it only. I think you'll be taken care of properly. Please keep us posted.

This just in:

Moments after posting the above, I heard back from Dawn at Full Compass (where I bought my HVX on 10/30) that she had just spoken with a Panasonic rep (named Steve) who had assured her that the actual rebate date is retroactive to 10/1/06, that the site's 11/1/06 date is an error, and that he would notify the site administrator to fix it. I suggested to her that the rebate form should be changed to add an "I've already got the book, thanks" checkbox to eliminate the possibikty of those customers' card requests being denied. We'll see what happens, but again, I have it on very good authority that you ARE eligible for the free 8GB card.

Ok I just filed one for each of my cameras. Everything went through. Someone stated on the prior page that they had gotten the book already, but their s# went through fine. Make sure you are not mixing i's and 1's or 0's(zero) and O's. Make sure you don't enter the R either.

But I still think Panasonic should reward all of the people who bought early. Maybe give them 2 Free 4 GIG P2. Get rid of the small ones and reward the people who took a chance on the P2 system. Jan if you are listening can you pass this idea along. At least 1 4 Giger and something else to the loyal customers. Otherwise, like the Lord of the Ring DVD's people will remember and wait next time because they do not want to get burned.

Reward the people who bought it on loyalty.

You might not mean it as I take it, but for goodness sake, they already added a book back to owner #1.
I "wish" they would do it, but "SHOULD" would never cross my lips.

Companies make promotions as the business climate dictates. That probably didn't make sense 2-4-6 months ago and might not in 2 more months.
THEY DID GIVE A 30 DAY GRACE PERIOD. Right on for them.

I just made enough today with my camera to offest this offer. Why the heck would someone wait for something that "might" come up?

Congrats to those who get the offer and to Panasonic for making it.
Sorry to say, but those that got the offer missed out on more then I did! :beer: I'm cool with it.
 
Well, when I bought the camera, I had no offer or promotion, but one thing is clear: I already shot two major commercials, and captured excelent images, as well as learned the nuances of the camera. Now I'm ready to shoot my short film. If I had waited for such a promotion, I probably would have to waste the months of training and missed the opportunity of shooting those commercials. Time is money.

This serial number does not exist or it has been used already.

Still out of luck! I bought this camera the last week of October and I JUST received Barry's book THIS WEEK! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? I put my serial number in correctly. I bought from an authorized U.S. dealer! Why is it that some people who've already received Barry's book can register for the free 8gig P2 card and I can't... I simply don't understand. Please help Panny!!!
