Ok, I agree we have been frivolous enough. We had an audition this evening that went well, but she isn't right for our lead. We have one more to read tomorrow and, frankly, I have high expectations for her based on her resume and conversations I've had on the phone. However, the good thing is that we have two very solid picks already so that if the applicant tomorrow doesn't win our hearts we will probably be able to make the decision for our female lead. Oh, and I might add that we were contacted by the agent for a pretty big talent (starring roles in ER, Chicago Hope and currently in a series pilot as the lead on CBS). We are aware of the SAG indie contract that lets you defer compensation but we think that we'll prefer going with one of our current applicants rather than even trying to go down that road.
We also have sewed up a couple other roles with very talented actors who will probably be "leaked" to Variety in a day or two!
