I won $5,000 dollars from a commercial contest!

i'd keep making spots w/ any camera you can get your hands on, and put the $5k in the bank. just my $.02 :)
 
I'd hold that 5k, save a bit more, and get an HVX. I hate to admit it, but I have to agree with cynic on that one :) Don't forget about taxes though. You'll probably get hit for half of that, being that it was a "prize" and all.

I think the Taxes dont kick in til $10,000 on a prize. THats how jackpots are done at our casino's around here.

and no matter how anyone feels about me, everyone will agree with me at some point or another, that is if they already dont but are afraid to admit it to themselves

Great spot, would like to see it on tv sometime. And dont worry about whether or not you will spend that money responsibly or worthwhile. Just send it to me, then you'll have no worries at all. Also, no money at all. But you gotta put a price on your mental well-being. Just know, I'm here for ya..

HAHA I'm glad I've gotten some good responses from you guys. I look up to a lot of you for info most of the things I have learned. My original plan is to buy an HVX I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLY want one. But Uncle Sam will probably want his cut and I'm thinking that will be about half. There is another prize of 5K for the most viewed spot on YouTube. I'm barely winning that but if ever you guys are bored and want to sit and click refresh on it for a while be my guest.

As for the Doritos Superowl contest I am really wanting to do that. I heard about it a while back on this board and have been trying to free up some time to plan it out. I'm not sure that I will even be able to becuase I have a trip to NYC for advertising to tour some agencies and try to get my "Portfolio" out there. This is a BIG step in my career though and I'm glad you guys enjoyed the spots.
 
I think you should buy a dvx and invest the rest of the money in stocks, like
Amazon and J&J. Make your money work for you. Build a portfolio.
 
Hey Charli, (not to hijack this thread but...) did you get that HVX yet? I am still a ways away from going HD I think. But, I like to get all my info so I will be ready when the time comes to make the right purchase for me.

I am kinda liking the A1 right now but my buddy so far LOVES his HVX. So, I am torn...

PS Sheppy 52...forget buying gear. And forget buidling a portfolio. You should do the only sensible thing there is to do with that money. Go to a roulette table and put it all on RED.
