Noa/Rice Digital Presents: "Checkmate"

Well, I promised I would have it up by 9:00 PM tonight, so here we go. Here's the big update!


DVXuser Charli has secured an amazing location for us! We will be shooting a large part of Checkmate at a beautiful oceanside suite in Santa Cruz! I cannot tell you all how stoked I am about this location, and how awesome it is of Charli to secure this for us and be a part of this project!

Update: Got confirmation that Patrick is interested. Also working on some more casting, and have some big things planned for that :)
 
Well, I just popped out for a quick bite of pizza and a fresh Pepsi. Hopefully I can get back to the script before Brandon notices I've "stepped away" (he's a slave driver I tell you :grin: )

Seriously, though, I sent the first few pages to Brandon yesterday afternoon, just for a sanity check. He seemed very pleased with them, which was great news to me. I wanted to make sure I was capturing his vision, as the concept was his originally.

My plan now is to get draft one completed today which will give Brandon the weekend to review and come up with notes for the next revision. Hopefully by mid-week we'll have a locked draft. :keeping-fingers-crossed-smilie:

Very cool, man. I am trying to have a first draft completed by this weekend. I am going to try to work on it some today at work here, inbetween commercial breaks.

I wanted to add a comment on what I read from Larry yesterday. He sent me the first few pages of the first draft, and let me tell you, I was blown away! He totally captured my vision of the story, and even moreso added to it. This guy can write people! I am so excited to see a first draft (hopefully by the end of the day) and even more excited to begin shooting this puppy! Larry's doing a fantastic job!
 
Awesome location, love the way you casted your family there. If only my sisters were above 8 years old to hold guns, I'd be well on my way.

Awesome location! I encourage you to really "use it" to its fullest. Locations can be a big character in a film.

About 2/3 of the way through the story and I'm already at 8 pages. Looks like we'll be doing some serious editing before the final draft :)
