Original DVX100 - Very Grainy/Noisy

I bought a second hand dvx100 a month ago, one of the originals but with only 20 hours on the heads, and since then everything i have shot has been very grainy/noisy, no matter what the scene file, white balance, exposure settings etc.

*Gain Is set to 0db, Auto Gain is off, although i've never used Auto anything.
*Dropping pedistal and sharpness doesn't help at all
*Every white balance has been off of something white, or as close to as i could find
*I reset all scene files - still lots of grain/noise

I know the original dvxs were meant to be a bit more noisy then the A and B models but I was getting a far far cleaner image out of my old gs400.
Anyone know whats up? I'm really hoping this is some stupid scene file setting i'm not aware of up as being second hand i can't warranty it if its a camera fault.

I uploaded some video here, the compression kills the grain a bit but you can still see it. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V8JVGPD6 (Enter the code top right, then wait for the download link)

I have the original DVX100 as well and I notice that some of my work seems to have that grainy look to it too. I thought maybe it was the compression when I uploaded it to the net. SO it might have something to do with the camera. I need to play around with some new settings anyway. I notice that when people upload their work to the Screen Grabs section of this website, their videos look sooooo clean with no grain or noise. I want my work to have that look as well.

What conditions are you shooting under? with proper lighting (and lots of it), you can reduce/eliminate the noise. Post a screen grab of what you're talking about, and we can go from there.

Its happening in all lighting conditions, obviously i would expect a bit of grain when shooting in low light, but this is happening out in the open at the middle of a sunny day. Have a look at the video I uploaded, a couple of shots were on an overcast day, but the rest were in broad daylight

Strange. I find the dvx100 original to be the best, signal to noise wise, compared to the dvx100a.

I see the grain and the colors are off. I know you've white balanced it but some shots are too red and some are too blue. It's strange. There's grain everywhere.

You've double checked your ND filter setting right? Last time I had this problem was accidental switch of ND filter and over compensating with lots of light.

Also do you recall the iris setting when you were shooting these scenes? Was it very low like below 6?

I can't recall iris setting, but its possible that i had the nd filter on, and was over compensating, i wasn't aware that this could effect the picture. I'll do some tests tomorrow and see if this helps. thanks!

In my findings it does have a bit more noise, but not much... I also think it captures a more organic image than the A or B. Just my 2 cents.

According to what I know, the B is the least noisy, having improved CCD's. Some may think the A is more noisy because of the cinegamma D. I've never really had any noise problems with my original 100E, except for low light situations.

Keep an eye on the iris setting, make sure you set it to manual mode. Before you set it to manual mode, zoom all the way in on an object that is important in your scene and look at the auto iris setting. Then zoom out and set the iris to manual to whatever the auto had it set when you were zoomed in.

Keep in mind less light = more noise. If you tried to tone things down with ND filter, you might of just gone too far.
